Hi, long story, but I'm proud of myself!
A month ago, the local pet store (not a chain, I live in a small town) got a baby bearded dragon. They usually don't carry that kind of lizard, but I got two from them last summer (they ordered for me), and I guess they wanted to offer another one. He was very small but active. The employees said he would eat a ton (they think they need to be fed once or twice a week), and they would feed him everyday (large crickets). A week later, he was beginning to get lethargic, and stopped eating. Two weeks ago, I went to the pet store to buy stuff and I saw that tiny dragon, skinny, and not looking good. I told them: he's sick, he's obviously dehydrated, give him baths. The employee said she would talk to the owner.

Now, Saturday I went with Balrog to get her a harness. I took Balrog with me (well, my daughter carried her while I drove) to get a good fit with the harness. The employees were amazed by Balrog, how lovely she looks, and so on. One of them asked if it was the same as the small one I purchased last July. I said yes, and then she said they badly needed help with their little one!

Three employees asked me (with the store full of people), what they need to do to get their baby better! One said that she's been giving daily baths for the past two weeks! So I told them about UVB and heat....and they were writing down stuff. I showed them what they needed from their store. One employee said it was ironic that a customer would explain to the employees how to care for pets they sell, and how to use the stuff they sell! They said that they asked the owner to take the little dragon to the vet, but she didn't care enough to do that, and they were pissed! :angry5:

In the end, this whole story made me realize that there are good people that care in that pet store, but they don't know how to do it. It was great of them to ask me, since they saw the healthy and lovely dragon that I now have. My daughter was very proud of her mommy, and it made me feel good to be able to help that little dragon in a way. I will try to drop by a few times this week. However, he was severly ill (calcium deficiency) so chances are he won't make it, but up to now he's been a fighter, so who knows what can happen!

An update on the little pet store beardie: he died last week. But the employee said he ate some squash puree from a seringe and got a little better, but was just too sick. She said she was sad since she got attached to the little one, and now she nows what to do straight from the start, and won't wait until the dragon becomes sick! That's still a small victory for me!

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
Mirage entered brumation yesterday, I'm gonna miss hanging out with my little guy.
