Yesterday I was in one of our chain pet shops picking up an extra dome lamp so I don't have to switch basking bulbs from day to night, was tired of burning hands lol. Anyway, one of the employees asked if I needed help, you know how that goes, and we got on the topic of uvb. I told him I was using a 4 foot reptisun 10.0 and he told me they were no good and I should swap over to a 150 exoterra cfl coil bulb in a normal lamp. He said it would focus the uvb and provide better absorbtion. I did not go off his advice as everything I have seen here says the 10.0 is the way to go. Opinions?

The coil bulbs produce a narrow, intense cone of UVB that has a very small area of optimal UVB output and not much range. I prefer the T5 tube style UVB lights because they produce a nice wide, even distribution of UVB across the basking area making it much easier for a dragon to get their whole body into the optimal sunlight level area of UVB. The T8 bulbs work in a similar way but their output is a lot less powerful so they need to be mounted closer to the basking area and their output is on the low end of the optimal daylight basking level range of UVB (3-5 UVI). They are a good choice for smaller tanks.

I just set Swordtail's timer for his bath and paused it so I could actually fill his soaking bowl up and he crawled over my phone and canceled the timer 🤣
Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
