Parasites or bedding?

I've been giving my beardie wax worms as a treat. Every time she sees a wax worm she goes crazy for it like she's never eaten before. Could a parasite be controlling her? Or could a parasite be eating stuff inside her making her super hungry?. I've given her crickets but shed miss sometimes and swallow her beading. She did it once or twice. Could something in the beading be making her sick?
She's changed her personality completley. I'd used to have o wake her up but now she wakes up by herself. She used to like to just chill on one of her trees but now when I tried to give her water after feeding her she wet crazy. I sprayed her mouth and she started running in circles. Then I tried again and she jumped on her tree. Which den she acted like she was chocking by opening her mouth wide den licking the inside and gagging. She stopped now but I'm worried. I'm not using any UVB I'm getting vb today

WHY? That's all wrong. You need a substrate for reptiles! You need to get him on paper towels until you get him the appropriate substrate. Get him repticarpet, slate tiles, or keep him on paper towels ASAP. I'm not sure if its the cause of his problem, but it is a problem. Go to the store ASAP. DON'T get calci-sand, or crushed walnut shells. Your bedding could be the cause of his problem. Keep us posted.

You need to remove the bedding (substrate) you're using now as that can be very dangerous if ingested and can indeed cause parasites.

It's very possible that your beardie is acting that way because the temperatures are off. What type of thermometer are you using and what are the temps?

yes, all of the above really, and also wax worms are highly addictive (think humans on drugs). I think there are a variety of things in the husbandry which may be causing her to act funny.

Actually ive only gave her waxworms because the carpet was the same they use for hamsters and if she misses the crickets she swallows it.

Hello,

As instructed, please do take the bedding/substrate that you have in currently. It holds way too much moisture which will harbor bacteria. It can most definitely contribute to impaction too.
What are the temperatures in the tank, & what type of thermometer are you using? A stick on type, a digital probe or a temp gun?
Please let us know how he is doing.

Ive changed the beading to knapkins actually. Temps usually 90-100 im using stick on and the round one :p. She is doing. Shes been wonderful she loves her new MVB bulb ( hasnt had uvb for 2 yrs) Although shes having a hard time sleeping im guessing 3 things. 1 when we put knapkins they kept folding upward so we put rocks in the edges to hold them down. She usually sleeps in the edges and now that rocks are their she has no where to sleep. 2 shes not used to knapkins and she cant sleep. 3 the MVB bulb is making it hard for her to sleep. Please help she hasnt slept for 2 days.

Are you leaving the MVB on all night? If so, that will make her too hot causing her to be uncomfortable (they need it cooler at night) AND the light will also keep her awake. What is the distance of the MVB to her on her basking area?

Both of those thermometers are very inaccurate and can be as much as 20 degrees off. The only 2 ways to get good readings are with either an infrared temperature gun or digital thermometer with a long wire & probe end. Walmart has the probe thermometer (the Acurite brand) for about $12.00. It really is critical that you get a good thermometer so you know what the true temps are especially since you're using a MVB.

Do you mean that you're using paper napkins on the bottom of the tank? Do you have a hard time getting all the crickets out before bed?

Why can't you move some of the rocks so that she has some place to lay down at night?

I think i might be able to move some rocks well see. Arent i supose to leave the bulb on all night? idk if you guys know this but my tank is fareley longer then normal tanks so it stretches farther. The cool side doesnt not get any heat its all natural it only gets the light. The cool side ranges from 75-85 . Its about 7-8 inches from her basking tree and about 1 ft from bottom. is there any way to improvise a themometer walmart is too far and my family is in very tough time as you can see i knew about UVB/MVB bulbs for awhile but it tooks atleast 2 months for me to actually be able to buy the bulb after specificly explaining to my mom that its urgent since she hasnt had UVB for 2 yrs. If theirs any way to improvise so its only like 5 degrees off ill be very thankful

I would definitely suggest that you move some rocks so she can lay down. No, the bulbs should NOT be on all night. They don't need any heat at night unless the room temp drops 65 degrees or lower. What is the room temp that she is in? How many gallons is the tank or what are the dimensions?

How many watts is the MVB? If it's 100 to 125 watts, it needs to be 14 to 16" from her in her basking spot. If it's 160 watts, then the distance should be 20 to 24" at least. So, at a distance of 7 to 8", it will cause serious eye problems as well as the chance of other health issues so I suggest you make an adjustment right away.

There is no way to improvise using an inaccurate thermometer. If you look here www.petmountain.com, you will find some thermometers with probes that are very inexpensive.

Turn the light off at night! That's like its constantly daylight, and you can't go in a house to get away, OR sleep. Sorry to hear about your troubles. Tough times for everyone...

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
