Panacur and Albon mix making my beardie lethargic?

So I just took my little Reptar to the vet 2 days ago, and it was found, during a stool test, that she has a small amount pinworms and coccidia in her system. So the vet prescribed one bottle of Albon, and another bottle of Panacur. The Panacur i'm supposed to give once a week for 3 weeks, and the Albon I'm supposed to give once a day, @ 6:00 PM for 3 days. I started the Panacur two days ago at 0.3 mL, and now, ever since yesterday, she has been extremely lethargic, sleeping all day (even into the night), and won't eat, or even notice her prey. I called the vet today, and he said to stop the de-worming treatments, and try warm water soaks and feeding water by mouth. Is this a normal side effect? Should I be worried? What can I do to make my beardie better?

Hi. Antibiotics are hard on their systems. You can give some soy yogurt to help calm his tummy and restore some of the good bacteria.

Hello,

Normally they are not quite that lethargic but it can happen. Do you know what the strength of the solution was that you gave him & what is his weight? I can double check the dose if you need?
I agree with the vet to cease the dewormer to see if that helps.
Have you given any Albon yet?

Yeah, I gave her one dose of Albon, the day after the vet visit, which was Thursday. The dose was 0.05 mL. I syringe fed her some baby food today, and she seemed somewhat more alert afterwards for a few minutes, but then she went right back to being lethargic again. Now she seems to be holding her breath constantly, occasionally taking deep breaths. As for her weight, I really don't remember, I have to ask the vet.

Hello,

I am sorry she is still having some trouble, the dose " looks" fine but if you could find out the weight of your dragon that would be great.
Did she enjoy the baby food then?
How are her colors, is she black bearding at all? You don't think that she aspirated any food?

Let us know how she is doing.

I just took her to the vet yesterday for a re-check. He said that her colors are good, but she was looking extremely lethargic, and that she was losing weight. She went from 46 grams, to 39 grams in 3 days. The vet gave her a shot of vitamin B and a SQ injection of fluids on both sides of her body. No, she isnt black bearding, and she seemed to swallow the baby food. The vet said that the baby food isnt necessary, and prescribed her Carnivore Care powder. I took her outside, and she seemed to perk up, but when she's in her cage, she's out like a light.

Hi there....how was your baby acting before the meds. were given ? Was she not eating and that's why you took her in ? If she only had a small amount of parasites, it is usually best to leave them alone and wait until they are much larger or the parasite load gets high before giving a harsh med. like albon. I hope she has not asprated it....she needs to rest, drip water on her snout for hydration+ hopefully she'll pull through. Hopefully this isn't a case of " should have left well enough alone"

Reptar was usually energetic before the meds, and she was eating a lot. And i screwed up, the vet said that reptar has a elevated amount of pinworms and coccidia and thats why she was prescribed albon and panacur. Also Im starting her on probiotics.

Is she doing any better at all ? How is her breathing ? I hope she recoups for you, I really do. A small energetic dragon that is eating well is still almost always best without deworming meds., they are fragile at that size + weight and that's why I mentioned that it would have been best if the vet had waited....because of her size. Hopefully the carnivore care and the probiotics will help. I would hold off on any more treatment , including any shots....she did not need any b vitamins since her lethargy was a direct result of the med., not a vitamin deficiency.

It's still to early to tell if she is getting better or not, but she does move short distances when I'm not looking. As for her breathing, she still seems to be trying to hold her breath, and is very groggy and out of it when she is handled. And thank you, I also hope that she gets better soon.

Is the vet a avian/reptile specialist?

I have only heard of using panacur and alot of people use it on their own without going to the vet with out any problems.

Hope you little beardie can improve. What probiotic have you been using? Have you been bathing her and offering oral fluids?

You need to get some more baby food or the Critical Care formula into her. Hopefully she will lick some off of her nose. A beardie that small can't afford to lose anymore weight.

We are all pulling for her.

Hello

Definitely keep us posted on her progress. Did you take her off of all of the meds?
I hope she eats some baby food for you. The probiotics should really help out for her too. How is she doing today?

Hi Tracie. yeah, she's off all of the meds, and she seemed to stomach the baby food. I'm also still feeding her the Carnivore Care powder(read "force-feeding"), since she only seems to get the energy to chase prey or run around when she is outside, but could this be stress? Also, it's 2:43 in the morning over here in Jersey, and I will keep you updated as the day goes.

I'm using Acidophiliz+ and Pedialite. I'm feeding here the critical care formula twice a day, and she seems to have put on some water weight, as her belly is more plump/soft.

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
