Painful white patches....

Hi,
My oldest male Rexy has developed these white patches on his left side. He has one on left elbow, left knee and on the left aide of his tail. The tail one is about an inch and a half and closer to the base and is painful to the touch. If I touch all around it, nothing but full beard and irritation when I touch the white spots. He is eating, moving around just fine, housed alone and normally very calm even when shedding. This is really worrying me because I can tell it bothers him. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Pictures? Have you looked closely, like through a magnifier or something? Wondering if it might be a skin infection or fungus of sorts...
And it doesn't look like skin about to shed?

I would think if is painful it may be time to head to the vet. I really wish I could tell you what it was, Sorry. Maybe Tracie will chime in, or pm her Drache613.

They look like shed to me. How long have they been there! Have you tried a warm soak? His attitude could be explained with shedding. Mine are grumpy while they shed.
