Paarthurnax- This Kid's Got Spunk.

Paarthurnax is my new bearded dragon. He's about three months old, born on Christmas Day (I kind of wanted to name him Jesus but my mother frowned upon it, hehe) and bought today from Down Under Dragons at the Lone Star Reptile Expo in Arlington, Texas. He's a beautiful double het tiger, I believe, and he looks like he's on fire when he's in the sunlight. After a few- meaning a LOT- of stops on the way home looking for a new UVB light and fixture, we're finally home and he's in his vivarium! Everything's been freshly cleaned, quite thoroughly, by yours truly, though he doesn't seem to appreciate it, hehe. :3 Surprisingly enough, he's already eating- he's had eleven phoenix worms just now, which he gobbled up with great gusto! He seems to like them, which is good, because I'm out of crickets. x3 He's spent most of his time in the new tank trying to escape. I have yet to find a terrarium cling background that is big enough for his tank. :C But it doesn't seem to be doing him any harm, so oh well. I haven't measured him yet, or weighed him, because I usually do that on bath day, which is Wednesday. So those measurements will be in soon. ^__^

And now for the pictures. His colors didn't show up as much as I would have liked them to, but he really is a gorgeous fiery dragon. :3 I am in love with him already!

Here he is having some tasty phoenix worms while everything in the tank was being cleaned. I assume they were tasty, because he gobbled them UP!

Oh my gosh...Paarthurnax is such a cute beardie! I love the last pic where he's standing up. When they do that and show their little bellies, it's just the cutest thing.

Hello Paarthurnax the [3 Months] Old One, brother of Alduin. To what do we owe the Graybeards the honor for have had summoned us to the Throat of the World? Were we shouting again, disturbing random cities guards? Causing them to approach us to ask us to stop whatever it is that we are doing?

Wonder if this community understands the danger of all these Dov returning. Will there be a Dovahkiin arise in time?

He does seem to have the noble and mighty air about him like Skyrim's Paarthurnax. Except when there's poo in his tank. Then he gets irritable, teehee. I came in just now to see fresh poo, and him scratching angrily at the front of his tank, looking at me with such indignation on his little face. C:

He seems to be adjusting really well. We're going over to Lowe's today to ask if they have a fixture that we can use for the new ReptiSun 10.0 we got him, so hopefully he'll have that in by the end of the day! He's had 9 phoenix worms and a good amount of greens already today, and I'm about to give him some more worms. The 9 were last night's leftovers- I fell asleep before removing them from the tank. I doubt it bothers him though, since they can't escape their bowl and don't make any noise. He's got the cutest little "cricket gut" going for him right now, I just love it! He also seems to have no issues with eating from my hand, which I like. I bet the breeder I got him from handles their babies individually, because he doesn't seem to disturbed by being picked up and having my hand in his tank for feeding and cleaning. The lady who sold him to us certainly seemed to know her stuff, and she was really nice too. I was impressed.

Well, it looks like SOMEBODY is getting a little impatient waiting for more worms. I'll keep taking pictures and uploading those that turn out well; hopefully my brother will get a new charger for his camera battery, and then there should be some really good quality ones coming!

Well, this has been an interesting week. I don't know how many of you have heard but Tuesday there were a LOT of tornadoes in the Dallas area of Texas. Well, guess who lives about an hour from Dallas, and had both storms hit their town? That's right, this chick, right here. :C It was quite terrifying. I already have an unusual fear of big storms (though I love the less intense ones) but Tuesday took the cake when it comes to the HOLY **** I'M GOING TO DIE factor. No tornadoes touched down in our town, but they hit most of the towns around us, including the closest, about 15 minutes from where I live. There was hail, and wind, and the sky was so black for a bit that it looked like twilight. We had to gather all the animals, including little Paarthurnax, in the safest bathroom with us and hope the roof didn't get torn off above our heads. I hate living in tornado alley.

I spent most of the storm either curled up in the comforter from my bed with Paarthurnax in a plastic bowl in my lap, or cleaning the bathroom, or bathing him. We now have a very clean bathroom, and a very clean lizard. The one upside to all this is that I did get some really good pictures of him whilst trying to calm myself to avoid throwing up from fear. Enjoy. xD

Just chowin' down at the old food bowl on some tasty phoenix worms. I've already had to order more! I just got 400 medium pw's yesterday, and he is loving it.

Bath time! Isn't he pretty? His colors don't show up as well as I would like them too, but my brother finally ordered a new charger for his camera battery, and he has got a REALLY nice camera, so hopefully soon I'll be able to show you guys just how pretty he really is.

I'm sure there will be plenty more silly faces and poses to come. :3 He's 9 inches long, I measured him just a little while ago. His appetite is still quite healthy! The only problem is he keeps pooping in his food dish. I think it's his way of ensuring I remove his droppings and get him fresh vegetables in a very clean dish in a timely manner. Every morning when I walk over to the tank he gives me this look of outrage, as if it's my fault that there's poo in his tank. Such a little diva.

Ah, I do enjoy some late night Skyrim. :3 Of course, I am a PC gamer, not one of the lowly console gaming peasants. xD I sort of cheat though- I have an xbox 360 controller with a USB extension to use for certain games on my laptop. C: 'Tis my secret shame!

As I stare at my XBox controller connected to my rig... My buddies always wanted me to get an XBox, so I got a controller... Shut them up, but made me happy, still was about to game on my PC. For some reason I feel the need to change the topic title every time I update this thread. xD

Paarthurnax has been up to even more mischief than usual today. He managed to get poo all over my shirt, jacket, and chair. How, I'm still not quite sure. He's preparing to shed, so I gave him a little slack, because I'm sure he'll be grumpy and unhappy about all his scales a'sploding right off his back. He's also been given a special treat today- strawberry! My mom found some really nice fresh ones at the store and as they are my FAVORITE fruit- one might even say that they are, indeed, the GOD TIER of fruits- I decided to indulge in one particularly appetizing one and share a small piece with him. He gobbled it up from my hand and seemed quite smug and happy about it, so I think he likes them. c: He's so spoiled- he won't eat his greens much unless I hand feed them to him. I'm not really complaining though, because it's more fun that way anyway, and I'm sure that if he associates me with food, he'll start to come running anytime he sees me. He is a chubby little thing, teehee. ;3

Haven't had the pleasure of my little guy taking a poo on anything not inside of his Viv... Wouldn't mind him doing it while in the bath, but hasn't done that since the day I got him. Has to make it difficult!

Oh yes, he's definitely growing and eating well. c: He's got the cutest little tummy, I just love it! No unusual shenanigans today to speak of. He's been looking pretty grey for several days now, and I'm sure he's going to start shedding any time now. That should be fun, heh. I intend to give him an extra bath and maybe something special for a treat and hopefully that will help keep him from getting too awfully grumpy. :3 He seems to do well with new people. He met my best friend Ahnaliese yesterday for the first time and didn't flip his tiny lizard top or anything, which is always good to know. He also met one of our kitties, Joker, who is our oldest, fattest, laziest and most adorable cat. Paarthurnax climbed right on top of his tummy while Joker was lying on his back taking a nap. I was fully prepared to take action if needed but Joker just looked at him, purred and went right on back to his nap. I feel so well protected. . .

Sorry it's been so long without an update, but I've been rather busy. I found Miguel! For those of you who didn't see my previous board, Miguel was the baby beardie I had before Paarthurnax. He escaped one day and disappeared for about a month, I thought he was gone for good. He just showed up all sad and pathetic looking in front of my closet door one morning and now he's happy and working on healthy in his own little tank! My youngest cat Desdemona also just had a litter of SEVEN kittens. . . Poor mama, she's trying so hard to take care of them well. They're so cute and tiny! And she moved them all under my bed. . . >_> I'm not quite sure how I feel about that yet, haha. All of these little babies combined with the rest of my life- relationship, friends, artwork, prom dress shopping (which is MUCH more difficult than it seems like it should be) have kept me a little too busy to spend much time online. But now, I am back. c: I don't have any new pictures to share with you guys yet, but trust me, they're on their way. ;D Paarthurnax is growing fast and eating a LOT. Nearly half a cup of medium sized Phoenix Worms a day. It looks like I might have to find a different feeder soon!
