PA reptile show?

Hey all. Im looking into getting another beardie and noticed there were upcoming shows within 2hrs of me and figured instead of paying 50$ and putting a beardie through shipping, id get one at a show. Plus i get to see it, hold it and get a better feel for its temperment and what not. Well i went to the Maryland show (i live in NJ) and drove 1 1/2 hrs for it to be a total bust. There were maybe 10 vendors, 3 of which had beardies. The one had 3, all priced 300 and up, the other had lots but they had missing toes limbs and tails and the last had one male and i want a female. I also wanted to get some new feeders to try, like butterworms, reptiworms and silks, but they only had crickets, supers and pinkies.
SO, theres another coming up within reasonable distance, but i wanted to see if anyones ever been to or heard of this one. Its in Reading PA, the east coast super expo i think its called. I looked at the vendor list and looks like theres a good amount, at least 6 with beardies. Also, the MD show had no venomous or endangered, and the PA one does, so i i think it may be bigger. I didnt just want to go to buy a beardie, but make a day out if it and look at cool poisonous reptiles
I just dont want to pay another 20$ in tolls, 40 in gas, 20 admission and waste more time if its not a good one.

Anyone know? is it worth it? Its Jan 21.

Guessing you went to the Havre de Grace show? That's the only one in the area I've been to...and it can be really lame at times. I've lucked out the few times that I went, but it's still not that great. I was also interested in going to the Reading PA show...but I don't want to waste my time either. I think this time of year kind of sucks for baby shopping anyway. Spring and summer will have babies coming out your ears....lol

Good luck finding one though! If you haven't checked out www.faunaclassifieds.com yet they have tons of gorgeous dragons for sale. I've ordered a few online and never had any problems. Even my mean spit-fire I got all the way from CA turned out to be a huge sweetie.

Ive always enjoyed vending at the Reading show. It looks small because the venue itself is just huge. I would rate it as a small to mid size show.
The Hamburg Reptile show in feb is the biggest show of the year, for that venue.
As it sits I plan on vending at both. If i have to drop a show it would be reading however.

Bdalton, I got our beardies (all 3) from Chris Allen, he's in Tom's River. He's known for his reds... he usually has a few for sale. I can get you his info if you are interested. Haven't been to reading... but we might have to take a drive out there.

Really? Ive heard of the chris allen red line, they are very pretty. Im looking to get an orange phase, do you know if he has these lines? I want one thats like the neon orange color you see. I was checking out bloodbank and fire and ice but really trying to avoid shipping. Im only about 45 minutes from toms river, does he have it so i could go check out and see what he has? I really dont like the thought of shipping, i got my female shipped from CA and i swear they dropped or threw the box because she was not right for 2 months after i got her. (Could be me just imagining the worst, but id rather not have my beardie boxed up and thrown in the back of a truck lol) do you know if he will be at the reading show? How are his prices? I know he is a well known rebutable breeder, so i know sometimes they can be a little, eh...pricey?

I don't know all of his phases...but if you look through my post and take a look at pumpkin... he's orange and gorgeous... and the best temperment... well worth the money...approx $120. He went to alot of the shows that were within driving distance this past year, so I would imagine he'll be at Reading, but I'll get his info and pm you it and you can get in touch with him. He has been nothing but terrific to work with, and I have 3 very high quality, lovable "babies" thanks to him.

I got my beardie from Chris Allen and he's a beauty. I got him for $50 and he turned out being a nice yellowy orangey color.

Really?! I got him in the summer of 2010 at a reptile show in oaks. He was just listed as an Italian leatherback I'm unsure of his parents though. Could you PM me a pic of yours or do you have a thread?

It's unfortunate that you're on the east side of PA since we have a good show in Pittsburgh every couple of months plus we're fairly close to the large Columbus Ohio show. You should see if Dragon Fortress is going to be at any of the shows in PA. I think they go to the Hamburg show quite often. I got my dragon from them last May. My little beast eats like a champ and has been very healthy for me (other than a recent case of smelly poops :roll: ). He was originally tan with black tiger stripes but he is orange with grey/lavender tiger stripes now and is just handsome.

I think that would be a great idea... I need to work on mine... just have to figure out a good place to have them... he doesn't seem mind the idea of more... just disagree where we would put the other setups in the house...

Haven't been to the mall in quite a while (Montgomery), moved to Lansdale back in Sept 2010, used to live in Philly, then Blue Bell. We could have passed each other on the Blue Route though Still learning not to get lost, lol!
