My 5 year old beardie Ozma just started laying eggs today. I'm not sure when it started. She started with a clutch of about 30 eggs that I saw when I came home from work today, and then she laid two more, and seems to be struggling with more. I'm not sure what to do.

She's solitary, and hasn't been around males since she was a baby. I had no idea that she was gravid, so I didn't have anything set up for her for digging.

Right now her cloaca is protruding and loks pretty raw. She pushes again every few minutes, but nothing seems to be coming out. I'm wondering if it might help her to put her in some warm water or something (give her a bath), which usually helps when she needs to poop.

She looks pretty exhausted, and I want to help if I can, but I don't know what to do. Can anyone help?

UPDATE

I put some fresh water in a dish for her and showed her where it was. She drank a ton (I've never seen her drink water willingly in all of 5 years), and ended up splashing herself around in it afterward. She laid two more big white eggs (most of the others were yellowish/whiteish), and she seems to be done now. She's got a lot more energy and seems relaxed. I gave her a warm bath in the tub, refilled her dish, and now she's just splashing around in there, scraping her face and body around inside.

Like I said, she hasn't been around any other dragons in years, so unless there's some sort of miracle (a la komodo dragons) that I never knew about, the eggs are infertile. What should I do with them? Right now I've just moved them into a sandbox in her cage. I'm not sure if I should keep them around for a while or just throw them in the trash? I've never dealt with this kind of thing before. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I'm glad she's doing better. This egg laying thing is sure scary, isn't it? We've had 7 female beardies since late November of 2004 (not all at once, tho) and the only one that we've had to deal with eggs with is Rosie. She's not been with a male because we've never had a male, thankfully as I don't think I could afford to raise baby beardie hatchlings, it would be way to expensive. Anyway, I just throw out the eggs as since they aren't fertile it won't do any good to try to keep them warm. This is our third year with her eggs. The first time she was trying to lay outside in a hole she's decided is a good place to put them but since I didn't know what she was doing then I brought her in and she ended up laying 22 eggs in our bed. That was the only time that year but the next year (last spring/summer) she laid 2 one day then one a week later then two then one, and soo forth. This year she laid 2 eggs last December and then one later. She laid two eggs a week or two ago and last week she laid one outside then when I went to bed after I'd put her into her hide box I felt something wet and when I felt around I picked up another egg she must had laid and threw it away. I hope this stops. I originally though that the scenario last year was because she didn't sleep much the winter before but this year she slept a lot more than the year before and she's still doing the two eggs then wait a week or so then one then.... well, you get the drift. It gets old and scary.

I had no idea of what I was getting myself into when I got 4 dragons within a month. (lol) I thank God for Beast who made me search out this forum. I have learned more in the past two and a half months about dragons than I thought was possible to know. Sophera, was either gravid when I got her, or became that way because of Beast. She first started going NUTS in her viv. I was reading a post, and someone suggested for another dragon, that was acting simular to Sophera, that she was probably ready to lay eggs. So I rushed to Lowes with the info from the Breeder section on how to prepare a lay box, and did so. Within 24 hours we had about 30 eggs. She first dropped one, then in the middle of the night another couple. Then she layed a clutch of around 30, then for the next week, she would drop one here and there. I had set up the whole lay box like a viv, including bringing all her lights, and her hide to it. We went for a couple of days without laying any eggs, so I thought we were done. I put her back in her regular viv, with no moist sand, for laying. About a week went by, and I noticed one of her sides was bigger than the other, so I put her back in the lay box, she laid two more eggs. Both sides looked even so I put her back in her viv. After a few days she layed another egg in her bath, and then a day or two later she laid another along with a poo. I have not seen any more eggs and its been just about 10 days or so. I hope we are done. Sopheras eggs were not fertile, and I just tossed them out. She did not seem to go looking for them or anything. I think they are kind of like sea turtles who lay their eggs, and then just leave them.

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
