Ok so i bought my vivarium set up today but i have a few concerns when i got it home and started to set it up, first of all it has a UV light and a basking light, but no other heat source? no heat lamp, no heat mat, no rocks.. im concerned, is this suitable for a beardie or am i going to have buy a heat source of my own?

Secondly, there is a plastic plant included.. now ive read that these are not suitable for decorating a beardie viv, is this true?

Now the second one im not too bothered about, its mainly the first one which is my main concern.. also is there anything else i should buy? i know about food and water bowls, the viv included lights as i say, i have substrate, i have a digital thermometer made for reptiles, a habba hut for my beardie to hide under and cricket food.

Do i need anything else before i go ahead and buy kyra? (ive named my beardie kyra too  )

Thankyou in advance for your replies and your help!

A beardie does need a heat source from above. Usually a regular brite household bulb or flood light so you can get basking temps between 105-110. NO HEAT MATS! they can burn their bellies because they can't sense the heat from below, only from above. Not sure what you mean about no rocks... heat rocks? if so, they are a DEFINATE no! biggest cause of belly burns! But he will need some way to be elevated off the ground so he can bask and be w/in 6-8 inches of his UVB.

That said, what type of UVB light are you using? there are some that are dangerous. So that's important to figure out right away!

Not sure about the plant. I'm sure others can help in that area.

I Have a repti glo 10.0 UVB desert terrarium lamp, like i said it came with the viv so is suitable for beardies (apparently!).. anyway ive had the spotlight on wit the UVB and i think i have the right gradient, at according to my thermometer.. so maybe i was worried over nothing?

I just set Swordtail's timer for his bath and paused it so I could actually fill his soaking bowl up and he crawled over my phone and canceled the timer 🤣
Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
