Overweight Beardie

Hi. I took Lil Alvin to the store with me Friday to see if one of the staff there (she is a breeder) could make sure the sex is male since I already named him. Good for him, she thinks he is a male but will be able to tell better in a little while as he is only 2.5 months old.

Anyway, she said that he is border line overweight. I am including a pic. Do you think he looks overweight? I only feed him crickets and silkworms and about 2 wax worms a day.

Is there such a thing as an overweight baby Beardie? Can overweight cause problems?

I dont think he is even remotely overweight.
Babies grow so fast they dont have the time to put on enough fat!

I would cut out the waxworms though, they are of no nutritional value and are very high in fat. Its like feeding him two slabs of chocolate a day in human terms ^_^

OMG on the two slabs of chocolate. Thanks for the heads up. I will definitely cut those out. I am glad he isn't overweight.

Yeah they are supposed to be used as rare treats or to help plump up underweight dragons.
One or two a week wouldnt kill him, but certainly not every day ^_^
