Hey Y'all. Atlas is five months today! Woot woot.
So, yesterday, I gave the fella a good soak and of course his tummy was a little water bound as usual. I then stopped by PetSmart and picked up some of the large crickets. I have been feeding the small crickets, but he was eating at least a dozen per feeding and draining my pockets, so I thought I'd try the bigger guys. Most of them are right at the size between his eyes, but some are very fat and some a little longer than his eye span. Anyway, he was chomping down on them and I actually had to cut him off after seven because his tummy was getting visiably full. He is great about chewing them up, which is why I figure the large are okay for him.
Well, I fed him a few more this morning, but again I cut him off because his tummy looked a bit swollen. It has gone down a little since this morning, but it still looks like he had Thanksgiving yesterday! It isn't so big that it is tight (like when they puff to float in water), but it is definitely full. I'm not sure if he may have become impacted from me switching to the bigger crickets or if he truly is just really full.
He has "gone" twice today. This morning, it was watery (I figured from the bath) and it had urate but there was also part of a cricket butt . . . the second stool had no poop and was watery (again looked like excess water) with urate. The no poop bit is what is getting me along with his big tummy. He is acting normal, running around, and totally alert. I took him outside today and he was acting like himself. I have gently massaged his tummy and rib areas, but I haven't felt anything solid; just the typical squishy beardie belly!!
I have a regular vet for him and I know he doesn't have parasites or coccidia or anything of that nature. I could (obviously) take him in, but I am still paying for my dog's two surgeries and dragon X-rays just aren't in my budget right now. I will of course take him if he doesn't improve over the weekend, but I'm just looking for some opinions on the situation. I won't be feeding him tomorrow to allow digestion and I'll keep massaging his tummy.
