over heating?

i hope i put this here. my one month old dragon is in a 20 long . i have a 75 watt heat bulb my temps on the rock thing he sits on reads 128 to 130 is that too hot for him? he just sits there all the time. he will run around too thoughi put a log in there to change it here is a picture of what he did sit on i hope i did the right thing

oh the 102f was when i first setup it does read 128 right before i put a diffrent log in

Your thermometer might be reading your temperatures wrong. Your beardie would probably move away if it was too hot, plus he would be gaping to be letting off excess heat. Also, babies tend to like it on the warmer side.

its a prob reading you think its still wrong?he does gasp and does a weird like swalowing thing i dont know how to describe

I think the temp may be right. I have a 75 watt in a 36"x13"x24" and it is 102* so with a smaller tank it may be that hot. Sometimes babies can't tell if they are in too hot of temperature. 115* is the most I would keep a baby in as they will dehydrate too quickly in anything above that.

so i should change what he basks on? i think that rock just holds alot of heat maybe

I just changed the bulb from a 100w to a 75w when my temps got too high, but you can try changing the basking spot and see how the temps work then. Temperatures are just one giant game of guess-and-check.

i just changed what he basks on ill see how that works out. im giving him a bath i dont think he likes it lol i only had him 4 days he still seems very skittish i hope it goes away
