I'm in IL so it's too cold now. But in the summer I'm nervous to allow my Beardie outside. Idk what pesticides are used and insects that are out there.

How do I allow my lizard to enjoy the sun safely and not making me nervous/crazy they are getting poisoned!

As long as your yard or a close neighbor's yard are not sprayed you don't have to worry. And most bugs are not toxic to beardies with the exception of fireflies aka lightning bugs. All the beardies I've owned spend time outside in large screened cages or lounging in my back breezeway. You can build your own cages or get something like this. At least one of the members here have this screened enclosure.

I have an HOA so they spray god knows what

That's too bad, I hate all that poison sprayed just to make the grass look a little bit better. I'd prefer a bunch of dandelions to poison any day. Could you put up a cage that doesn't touch the ground.....and do they allow you to have a beardie or would having it outside cause someone to complain ? And of course you'd need to be sure he isn't outside on the days when the spraying is done.

The other option is a beardie harness + leash so you could take him to a park or somewhere.

We have leashes. Just never use them.

I truthfully don't know if I can have a Beardie...but it's still our home my babes aren't going anywhere! I don't think we saw anything about exotics in the by-laws. With my luck though it would cause an issue!!

Maybe we will just take them in backyard quietly and let them sit on our lap.

I do know we cannot keep any cages outdoors.
