Outdoors?

Someone here told me Mushu is only a few weeks old (2-4). Should I be taking him outside to explore? I haven't been, for fear of his safety since he's a fast little guy, but I could easily construct walls to keep him. But I'm not sure if he's old enough yet.

Only a few weeks? That's VERY young. I'd wait until he's at least a few months old before putting that kind of (fun) stress on him. When he's older though, absolutely bring him outside for some natural sun and to explore.

That's what I thought. I took him outside safe in my hands for some sun but otherwise I didnt feel safe. Any idea when to start his exploits?

Ideally they leave the breeder/store when they are a month or two old. Id say maybe at three months or so. It's hard to tell for sure though. I think the key indicator will be how he acts when he's exploring the house and if he is good with being handled. My main concern would be the stress from input overload outside.

I got him from petsmart. I probably wont take him out for awhile!

I commented on your other post about Mushu's age. He is still pretty young to take out. You can always open a window, that has a secure screen in it, and let him sit in it, but only if the window is low to the floor. If Mushu is a bit spastic, then it may be best to wait a little before letting him sit in the window.

He's not spastic, actually is pretty well behaved. Adventurous though. He wouldn't bolt but may take a slow (poorly) calculated leap of faith. It happened once but my ninja self caught him. He's tried a couple other times. We have a glass/screen door I could let him look out of with some set up barriers.

I made the mistake of not introducing her of outside. I think you should, but put him in a cage or box because you obviously don't want to lose it.

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
