The last couple of days here in NE have been nice enough to bring my beardie outside but thinking that I might need to find a different place. I know they learn about their environment by tasting but my lawn has spots that are just dirt. There isn't any chemicals or anything on it but what about ingesting the dirt or tiny pebbles? Or heaven forbid a insect or small red worms?

Take him out + let him play! :) Will you have a harness ? Just watch for rocks that are marble sized, keep him out of areas like that. Eating bugs is not a big deal, only fireflies are toxic.Mine have eaten worms, wasps, bees + a cicada with no ill effects. Grass, clover, cats paw + dandelion can safely be grazed on. :) But just try to keep him in the grassy areas.

No harness yet, in the process of making one but she only goes like 1-2 feet at a time and then sits there looking at the sky or tasting things around her. Keeping her mainly on grass is difficult has I sadly have a blotchy lawn.

I agree, outside time is great. A leash may be a good idea until you have a good idea of how he reacts to the outside. They don't tend to dart off but they're all different and they can get spooked sometimes. A playpen is a good idea for outside as AHBD mentioned. They are well ventilated so overheating won't be an issue. My guys go after bugs sometimes too and it isn't a big deal. Darwin took out a bee this afternoon. I worried for a minute but he just sat there very proud of himself. Outside bugs aren't good as part of the main diet but once in a while isn't an issue (lightning bugs being the main exception).

I'm actually glad she is up and going, sprinting about 1-2 feet, from time to time because I was concerned still with her leg issues she had this past fall (getting her nails stuck on hammock and hurting her leg) and she doesn't seem to like walking on the carpet in the living room.
She still is spoiled brat and will only eat hand fed but seeing her actually up, in what my son calls, her "gator walk." Don't see it much in the vivi. I was mainly concerned with the dirt licking. I know sand can cause impaction didn't want that to happen with the dirt. So far she seems to like laying on this one piece of moss watching the little sparrows on the wires.

I've been taking Mystic outside a lot lately, just on a table on the back deck to get some sun. The other day he made a quick leap off the table and flattened out & black bearded. There were a few crows flying around, don't know if it was them or their shadows, but he moved quick. I will definitely put him on a leash to take him out.

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
