Hubby and me got our very first beardie - Kur 2 weeks ago, and like new parents we are nervous and excited at the same time.

Our baby is about 7" long and very very skittish. We put his tank in the living room and whenever we are around, he would flatten himself on the log and frozen till we are gone. For the first week, we didn't handle him unless it's feeding time (he has a feeder tank), we gradually handle him more on the second week but that seems to stress him out...I also notice since Thursday, he doesn't seem to be interest in crickets anymore - doesn't mind butterworms, wax worms and very interested in hornworms (but most hornworms are too big for him...) I also tried to feed him veggies but he has absolutely no interest in.

He has 2 fl UVB light, one heat lamp, one spot heat lamp for basking. His viv is 36" x 18"

So my question is did we turn him into a picky eater?
Is this normal being so skittish? (I'm sure it is but any advice on how to make him less skittish is most welcome)
Will hornworms cause impaction? Most of them are bigger than the spaces between his eyes...

So my question is did we turn him into a picky eater? From what ive read and noticed with Daenareys my bearded dragon they do tend to get picky when better options are offered and crickets from what i can tell seem to be a last resort for my bearded dragon as she will always choose to eat roaches over crickets and tends to eat a lot lot more roaches.
Is this normal being so skittish? (I'm sure it is but any advice on how to make him less skittish is most welcome) all reptiles can be quite skittish at first just keep trying to her used to you ive also heard of people putting a shirt they have worn for a day or so in the enclosure with the bearded dragon to get it used to your smell.
Will hornworms cause impaction? Most of them are bigger than the spaces between his eyes...
From what i understand hornworms and other soft bodied worms cant cause impaction as long as they can fit it down there throat without choking you should be fine.

I also noticed you said 2 uvb lights it would be helpful to know wich brand they are because certain ones are not recomended for bearded dragons idealy the repti sun 10.0 zoo med uvb light is what you want and just one.

And its also quite normal for younger dragons to not care for their greens just keep offering it daily. My dragon is just starting to eat them on her own now and she is around 7-8 months old

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
Mirage entered brumation yesterday, I'm gonna miss hanging out with my little guy.
