Our first Brumation

Hi, Both of my babies are about 10 months old. I didnt think that they would brumate yet but they are... sorta :?

They are both males, Louie and Stewie. About a month ago it was like a switch was flipped. They started sleeping all day, hiding in their caves and refusing food. Im the annoying Mom who will tap the glass or open their door to make sure they are just napping. Ive done some reading on brumation here but im having trouble finding what you do abut it if they are.. I guess what you would call "semi-brumation".

Their lights are on timers and I have reduced the time a bit but not alot. They are to the point now that they will come out for about an hour or 2 a day. They will eat a tiny bit of greens willingly, enough for me to get some vitamins in them, but thats it. They wont eat anything live atm. Ofc the small amount of eating.. pretty much no poo. Im still bathing them too but not as often as normal. I was afraid i was disturbing them more than helping.

When they are awake... they are in great spirits. Glass dancing untill we come scoop them up. Running around the house etc. but as soon as we put them back in their cages.. they are done and go hide in their caves and off to dream land.

So basically... Is there such a thing as a "semi brumation" ?

Are they really ok eating so little?

Should I bath them like normal or keep it reduced?

Should I wake them to try to get them to eat?

How much longer will this last !!! :(

As always any help is appreciated. ty in advance

I'm by no means an expert, but I found myself asking these same questions about 5 months ago. My male (first BD for me) went into a "semi brumation" at 7 months. He was lazy as heck when nobody was around, but would perk up, come out & eat whenever we were around his viv and active. He also had some days when he would sleep 24 hours under his hide. He didn't pass any stools the entire time, regardless of the fact that he was eating intermittent meals and getting bathed for hydration. He woke up about a month ago and decided to stay awake, his appetite is back & he seems 100% back to normal.

Long story short, I didn't change anything. Lights on a timer, kept offering food whether he ate or not, & he just did his thing. No problems at all.

Hope that helps. :)

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
