so after much talks with traci and my girlfriend, we have decided that our beardie has fungus. i wish the vet i saw a couple weeks ago wasn't a hack we could have nipped this in the bud a long time ago and it would not be this bad. the vet said it was scar tissue and retained shed. so we continued on our treatment of soaks, rubs downs, aloe, and anti-biotics. well, 2-3 weeks pass and it hasnt gotten any better or worse just kinda hung in limbo for a while..... well 4 days ago i noticed another spot on her vent area show up, then there was a spot on her tail, and now there is a spot on her ribs over the course of a couple days it has spread. yesterday on the advise of traci we went out and got some lamisil and some betadine. gave her a nice long soak last night, put the lamisil on her (which was a pain cause she doesnt like the leg being touched, seems to cause her pain) wrapped her up and put her to bed, woke up, let her warm up and fed her some dubia with some bene-bac let her digest an hour, then another betadine soak. i really hope shes gonna be ok, we have only had her about 6 weeks, but we love her dearly. anyone with experience with fungus in beardies have any advise for us? just a little something to give us piece of mind or something.

Iv dealt with an internal fungus which has been linked to yellow fungus. It was rough! Being internal, harsh meds were our only option but, after 2 rounds of itraconazole followed by 2 rounds of nystatin, it hasn't flared up again! :)
There is a yellow fungus case study on the beautiful dragons which is interesting to read if you haven't already taken a look :)

Well, you have got her started on the betadine etc quickly so that should stop it from spreading any further. Hope all goes well with the treatment :)

I know... It's frustrating- my vet didn't diagnose Kazi- I sent for a fecal culture of my own (after the vet sent one) and that is where it showed up- only then did the vet say we should get a mouth culture to see if there was bacteria in Kazi's respiratory tract.

I think you can use echinacea and grapefruit seed extract to naturally fight yellow fungus from the inside. it's on that website. I used it with Kazi too and it seemed to help him out.

What about colloidal silver? I've never used it although I keep a bottle of it on hand (just in case) for my parrots. The accompanying information says "The presence of colloidal silver near a virus, fungus, bacterium or any other single celled pathogen disables its oxygen metabolism enzyme, its chemical lung, so to say. Within a few minutes, the pathogen suffocates and dies, and is cleared out of the body by the immune lymphatic and elimination systems." Among other things, it also states that colloidal silver is absolutely safe for humans, reptiles, plants and all multi-celled living matter.

The administration instructions suggest for a bird of approx. 117 grams bodyweight, 1/4 ml neat solution 3 times daily for 7 days, given orally by dropper or syringe.

Maybe there are others here that have used it and can vouch for it's efficacy??? I wouldn't want to use it without one of the gurus giving it a thumbs up.

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
