OPEN EYES CLOSED EYE/EYES

ok when hes in his tank basking his eyes are usually open, a couple times they've been shut, but when i hold him sometimes he just lays on my hand the same way he does when hes sleeping and he closes both or just one eye. even when hes active while i hold him usually one eye will be open one will be closed, theres no consistency as to which eye he closes. i use a mega ray at about 14-16 inches away and ive had him for a week. the breeder said he was 2.5 weeks old when i bought him. is he just being a goof and thinks hes hiding? i cant really tell if his eyes are swollen because hes still quite small, just short of 4inches.

Nef does that sometimes too, he'll randomly have one eye closed when I'm holding him or when he's looking at me. Doesn't seem ro be any rhyme or reason to it. I'm not worried about it at all. Don't know if you case is different though.

Both of my Bearded Dragons do it, I think a lot of Bearded Dragons do it.

My dragon does that alot too. I think it's how they focus on objects on that particular side of their head when they close one eye.

yeah thats what I think too. most animals have limited overlap between eye's fields of vision so rather than move his head he is just focusing with the one. They don't need to look dead on unless they need to judge distance.

Yup, Piggy does that too. I also notice he tends to quickly shut both eyes when I'm pissing him off... like if he's done eating but I'm still waving a piece of squash in front of his face. He shuts both eyes and kind of tilts his head up... "Take it away, do not want!"

Yeah Rufus does the same thing or if he's full he might go from looking at the food to dramatically swinging his head to look me dead in the eye with one hairy eyeball. I consider us both somewhat dominant males so I give a slight stink eye back
