Only Eating Once a Day

Hello, Merlin came barreling into our home exactly one week ago in the form of my sisters barded dragon. He's been great so far, but he will only eat once a day, in the morning. Any other time we put him in his box with some crickets he just looks around then tries to jump out. Today I threw in a dusted cricket during his nifty time feeding and he gobbled it up. Could this be why he only eats in the morning? ( His morning crickets are always dusted with calcium or a multivitamin) Could it just be an odd form of relocation stress?

Hmm, I've never heard of that before. Perhaps it is the difference in color? Have you tried feeding him dusted crickets later in the day?

I did, as soon as I dropped the cricket in he devoured it.

How big are the crickets you are feeding him? He should be eating as many as he wants in a 10 minute time period, 2x per day. You should be dusting the crickets with calcium powder once a day, 5x a week, and with multi-vitamin powder once a day, 2x per week.

Also he might still be going through relocation stress, as you just got him a week ago. It can sometimes take them up to 2 weeks to get acclimated.

That's what it is, then. The difference in the color from the powder of the crickets. Maybe you could try feeding him crickets that aren't dusted at his regular morning feeding time (since he knows its time for him to eat) and dusting crickets for him to eat later in the day?

Today I mixed it up and feed him regular ones in the morning and at noon time and dusted ones at night time. He gobbled up the noon time crickets and the nighttime crickets but wouldn't touch the morning crickets.
