As of now I have the reptile carpet in Evie's viv, but I was wanting to maybe put tiles in there instead. What are the steps in order to do this? Is there a certain type of tile to use? Also I have a small heating pad that I have under the viv (below the glass so it does not get to hot for her, but keeps her belly warm during the night) will having tiles instead of the carpet mean that it will get too hot?

Thanks for your help!

I'm not sure how tile will affect temp on floor. I went to the tile dept at Lowe's. They will cut tile for you. Some folks use slate, but I got a glazed ceramic tile. (2) 18"x18" for my 40 gal. tank, trimmed down to allow for 1/4 in. grout. They've got tile adhesive in a white bucket, suitable for small jobs. Small buckets with grout-just add water. Available in 2 colors. The I sealed the grout with a neat water-based sealer in a plastic bottle with a brush on the end. The first one I tiled in, I didn't buy a glazed tile. Now I need to go back and seal the tile, because it seems to absorb odors of the beardie poop kind, even when washed out with lysol wipes. Good luck!

When I kept my beardie in a glass viv, I had a UTH under slate tile (I used the UTH for the tank's previous inhabitants) and it warmed the tiles quite nicely! :D Just make sure to put your UTH on a dimmer or thermostat so your beardie doesn't get burned.

I am using the vinyl sheet type flooring in my tanks. They sell it at home depot, lowes etc... And its fairly inexpensive, a few dollars a square foot. they won't always cut it down to size exactly, it depends on the length of the roll, just get a piece the depth of the tank, 18" for a 75 gal, etc. if its a 12' roll, you'll have enough to do 3 tanks. Its easy to clean, I wipe it clean daily and pull it out once a week or so. It fits tight so crickets and worms can't get under it. And it holds heat well, it'll work with the uth, I use it in my python & boa cages with uth's. And its fairly cheap. Just make sure you get the type without the adhesive backing so you don't have any fumes from the glue. I doubt I'll ever use anything else. Just pick the colour/style you like.

I have linoleum flooring too in my current viv. One of my favorite substrates, for sure.

I just set Swordtail's timer for his bath and paused it so I could actually fill his soaking bowl up and he crawled over my phone and canceled the timer 🤣
Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
