So Pixie went to the vet, I had to make sure she was ok. They took X-rays and she has like an upper respiratory infection!! I have antibiotics for her , liquid calcium, and special liquid diet to make sure she eats I am so sickened by this as I have had her since September and this is my first beardie but I have been to the vet twice already and the vet said she may die!! Not by nothing I did , but because she is a rescue and came with issues unknown. I am so upset. A fifty year old woman bawling like a baby's in the vet office. I just fed her via syringe and she is like having labored breathing! Please pray for my girl.

Sorry that Pixie is sick. :( Was she breathing hard before or just AFTER you syringe fed her. ? That could be that she aspirated a little bit of it. Did she willingly take the food ? Will she eat anything on her own ?

And was she having a hard time breathing that you noticed before you took her to the vet ? Try not to worry too much, beardies can get over resp. infections, I don't know why the vet said she's going to die, an R.I is not a death sentence. Keep trying to get her to eat on her own [ try a new insect if you can like dubia roaches or hornworms ] That will be less stressful. If she'll eat, you won't need to give her added liquid calcium all the time you can just use powder on her food. Or you can mix it with something she likes....try a bit of unsweetemed applesauce, baby food squash. She may be just fine, don't think that this is a death sentence.

She didn't take it on her own. I put a little at a time in her mouth. The vet scared me so by saying she came with issues from the rescue. I am so scared she
Isn't going to recover. I've given her everything I can. She's not eating and there's mucus in her mouth from what the vet said. I've got liquid flagil, calcium liquid, and the food I mix with water. She's just weak. Please tell me how to fix her.

I know it's scary, but try not to panic. Was she wheezing when you took her in. gaping or coughing ? Can you post some pics of her right now, a full body shot and a close up of her face + mouth ?

Flagyl is an anti-parasitic. Was she given something else for the R.I ? Flagyl would be for worms.

Hello,

Poor thing, but it definitely is not your fault. Many times, rescues have underlying health issues that you don't know about.
I think also, you could consider doing some nebulizer treatments for her too. They are highly effective for respiratory infections. Hopefully the antibiotic shots will help greatly.
Keep us posted on her.
Be sure to keep her warm overnight, around 80 to help boost her immune system.

Good advice from Tracie as always, and I agree you haven't done anything wrong. Please try not to stress too much, she may have a light R.I, her body condition is very good, even a bit pudgy. Her being lazy + not eating much is very normal for this time of year. Don't worry about trying to get too much food in her...I looked at your posts from 3-4 weeks ago and she had eaten large hornworms on several occassions. That is like laying on the extra fat for her slow down period. They don't need to eat much [ and don't poo much ] during this time period. She actually looks heavier than in her last pics from 3 weeks ago. :) Don't force the syringe feeding on her, let her lick up a little bit every few days, even once a week. Stress will make her worse. She should be O.K. :)

Seems better. Not openeing her mouth as much. They told me to give her 1 unit on a syringe. If she likes it give more. I am ordering greens as well.

Sounds good....any progress is a step in the right direction. How long will she be on the Flagyl, and how many injections will she get ? And if it turns out that she needs nebulizer, Tracie can help you out with that info. See how she does with what she's on now.

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
