OMG PetSmart (Now with Pic's)

The Pet Smart closest to me is like 45 miles away and that is where I got my tank etc.... They have had some pretty small dragons,last time we were there my hubby got all mad because there were like 5 babies (small small babies) in one tank and their cage wasn't that clean.
Fortunately,we have found a WONDERFUL small pet shop about 15 miles from us.The cages are really clean and the owner is a fantastic lady. They sometimes get small dragons shipped in and she will tell people,you may pick out your dragon and even put a deposit on it,but I want to keep them until they are a little older before they leave here. If the person does not want to buy what they need to properly care for an animal,she either tries to talk them out of buying it or will not sell to that person. She says she woudl rather lose a sale than to sell to someone who won't take care of them. She even has signs posted in her shop,animals are non refundable just because you don't know how to care for them,so please read and research first. The shop doesn't open until 10:00,but someone is there around 7:00 or earlier to clean cages and feed and water the animals. They also take in and care for sick pets,they have a beautiful red colored dragon right now who has had a respiratory infection,the owner released it to be resold,they don't want to take care of it any more,he's doing great though. Alf goes with me when I visit up there and the owner has to come see her and love on her a little before we go,so sometimes I am there for a while if she's busy. They come and get me if there are any new dragons etc.....

I went into the local petco by my house to get some crickets for the beardie i rescued last night and as i was there i looked into their tanks... never knowing waht u might find there but then turned into a when i saw that there were not 1 but 2 dead babies one on the front of the tank and 1 in the back. I found an employee and told them i was here to get crickets and that some1 needed to take care of their reptile section better, and she looked at me and was like what do u mean sir, and i was like well im far from an expert, but i have had reptiles my entire life, and i have some business management experience, both of which can't benefit from having 2 dead bearded dragons right on display. She gave me my crickets, didn't count them till i got hom but paid for 12 and got something like 20, and then she ran to the tanks to check it out. and sure enough she removed the 2 dead 1's to the back room, and i didn't hear anything from her when she came back out.

The problem is not so much petsmart as it is the supplier of petsmart. The "well known breeder" that sells to petsmart sells babies at a week old. He mass produces beardies and mails them out by the hundreds to petsmart. This is the ultimate problem of a breeder truly being "all about the money". Their care that is the Corporate mandated care was designed by the "well known breeder." So it is truly not petsmarts fault though it is appaling the person that blame should be pointed at is a breeder that many people on this forum and others has purchased from in the past.
