OMG I dropped Puff

Puff and I were hanging out as usual yesterday evening. He was on my shoulder under my hair were he loves to be. Well, I bent down to put something in the garbage like I always do but this time he must have been sleeping or something and didnt have a grip because he came flying of my shoulder and did an accordian style fall to the floor. I completly freaked out; it looked like he bent in half and then landed on his belly after unfolding himself I picked him up gently, made sure he could walk and he could; he ripped around on my housecoat that I had laid out for him(he loves my housecoat, not sure why) Everything is fine, he didnt even looked scared, no black beard, no puffing, nothing. He was a wee scared of my shoulder after that so I just put him in my hand told him how sorry I was and put him in his cage so he didn't get anymore stressed out. I felt aweful; my poor lil man. I never wanted him to know what falling was like, now I have to rebuild a little trust with him because my shoulder freaks him out. Damnit haha. I am glad the nothing physically happened, no broken tail or anything Phew! Thanks for listening; I feel terribly guilty and had to share it with you.

I could imagine how bad you felt, and how surprised Puff must've been to wake up on the floor. Poor baby.

I'm sure he'll forgive you and will be back up on your shoulder in no time.

I figured out why Puff fell the other day. Now I don't really know what to do with the situation. Since he fell he has been a little weird; he seems to be scared to bask, he stays on the bottom of his cage and if I put him in his basking area he climbs down (but gets confused on the best way to go about it). He hasn't been able to climb me very good anymore. Today I finally noticed it is his nails. I have put tile in his cage and since then his nails have become rather short, this why he doesn't like to bask b/c getting up and down is a pain in the bum for him. He cant stay on me without slipping so it freaks him out. Is there anything I can do for him or will he just adapt to his new shorter nails?

Don't worry, he'll get over his fear. In the meantime, maybe give him a shorter basking spot and hold on to him while he's on you until he gets his confidence back.

why this thread is on the subject. how long do an adults nails get? so i dont have to post a new thread for a simple question

They can get very long if not trimmed; not sure of exact length.
