UPDATE ON MY 4 RESCUES:

1. Baby: 4 yr old Lemon female. I have not measured her yet. Tail tip is missing. 10.5 ounces. She and Bubba have been 2gether since being babies, and reside together. She has been dropping eggs since before I got her. She laid 6 last nite in the hollowed out center of a a brick. AND AFTER I SET HER SUCH A NICEEEEE NEST BOX TOO!! They did not survive. To give you an idea how calm she is....As I re-did their viv, I was vacuuming the sand from around and under her, AND while Bubba decided her head would make a great perch, SHE LAYS AN EGG!! I have it in a Hobabator. I have not yet figured out the temp gadget yet. My Tiel, Kaiser, ate the instructions that came with it. ANY/ALL IDEAS ARE WELCOMED AND APPRECIATED!!

2. Bubba: I may have to change his name) 4 yr old Lemon male. I have not measured him yet. Tail tip is missing. 15 ounces. Bubba and Baby have been 2gether since being babies, and reside together. The vet's finger accidentally slipped while checking his mouth. His tooth caught that finger just right. I heard the slice. It happened to me once.
Is there a doctor in the house!! MEDIC! MEDIC!! BLOOD SPILL!! CLEAN UP ON AISLE !, CLEAN UP ON AISLE 1!

3. Rusty: Red male, small amt/previous, MBD in tail. Otherwise, healthy and active. Not measured as yet. 14 ounces. He has a set of 3 Palm Trees overlooking his food/water dishes, and a new log hideaway, courtesy of Petsmart.

4. MISS Precious: She has an abscess/infection. When I got her, she was 8.3 3/4 oz. Today, 12-27-2009, she is at 11.5 oz; a gain of 2 oz in 5/6 days. The baby food helped a little. She is on 2x daily soaks, baytril at 1 cc daily, and critical care, 2/3x daily. I want to buy some Benebac GEL tomorrow. The vet says to give her a HALF A GRAM daily. How, pray tell, do I figure out/measure a half a gram? All suggestions welcomed.

Petsmart donated some artificial plants, large food dishes, amd a log hideaway for the rescue dragons.

I still need to get some timers, shady hiding spots, etc., for the vivs. Does anyone know of a place I can get them inexpensively? Thanks.

P.S. : The remaining egg did not make it. :(

Re: HELP! Just received a 8.3 3/4 oz, 16 inch rescued beardie!!

Hi everyone. After a week on the Baytril, she is still not hunting/feeding herself. I 'milk' the cyst as the vet ordered. It goes down, and back up. I wonder if another round/week of Baytril is needed, or would that be too much antibiotic? I can get the baytril from a non herp vet here in town, rather than driving to Tucson. She DID do some normal beardie behavior the other day. My male, Darwin, and Miss Precious must have seen each other fairly well. He started head bobbing, beard went to jet black. She did a slow head bob and waved back to him three times! Normally, they don't see each other.

As far as the breeding pair, Baby and Bubba....Baby passed away on Dec. 30, 2009. I believe the egg laying lasting over such an extended time frame, and that it was so stressful, for that reason, as well as likely depletions of needed calcium, etc., that it was too much for her. She went down very fast, and was gone in less than 24 hrs.
I took the ceramic heat emitter OUT of Bubba's enclosure, and replaced it w/ a 100 w incandescent. The emitter was not getting it up to the right temps. The 100 w gets it up there. He is not stressing as much as he was before. (I'm soooo proud! LOL)

Rusty: What a dragon!! Loves banana! Hits it like a torpedo! WOW! Reminds you to respect the power of those jaws! LOVES roaches. He and Bubba both do.

HOWEVER....NEITHER will even touch their greens. 4 yrs old, and does not know what they are. Any suggestions?

Thanks, everyone. HAPPY NEW YEAR!! PROSPEROS ANOS NUEVES!! UPDATE ON MY 4 RESCUES:

Baby passed away on 12.30.09.

Bubba and Rusty are doing fine. I introduced them to superworms, hornworms, and roaches. I nick-named Rusty, "Torpedo Jaws". I feel bad for the feeders.

Miss Precious, the sick BD is still not wanting to feed on her own.
She saw the herp vet on Dec. 26th, 09. Is it still too soon to expect her to show interest in food on her own? I have, very occasionally, fed her roaches and hornworms. She has gained weight and is now a little over 12 oz. Almost a pound! The abscess has gone down. She has 2, sometimes 3 poops in 24 hours. Should I consider another round (2 weeks) of Baytril? I can get that here in town, w/o driving all the way to Tucson ( almost 2 hours away).
She has seen my male, Sir Darwin. She head bobbed and waved in submission. A strong wave, nothing weak about it. She has done this about 3/4 times.

My original BD's, Miss Sydney and Sir Darwin are doing fine. Miss Sydney brumated for a about a week. Sir Darwin is doing the branch potato in his hammock, "upstairs" in the Beardie Penthouse Suite. It has a wonderful view of the city (bedroom).

Can anyone offer advice on how to start a in-home non-profit bd rescue business? Any ideas are welcome. Thanks in advance.

Today is 1.9.2010 :

I spoke w/ a NON herp vet yesterday. She called to tell Miss Precious passed her fecal test w/ flying colors!! :D No sign of parasites, bacteria, and her gut flora looks very good also. She is off the Baytril now. She said the Baytril can sometimes suppress their appetite. She suggested cutting the feeding down from 7ml 2x a day, to about 4 ml 2x a day. Let her slowly build her appetite back up. She is sitting on my lap as I type. She now weighs 12. 2 oz.! ALMOST A POUND!! :D

Thanks for all the help and support. Miss Precious says thank you, also!! :)

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
