Hello,

I recently gave my beardie some olive oil on the nose because that’s worked in the past for impaction (think I gave too many mealworms). She shook her head to get it off, and I’ve always kind of worried about this: can it get in their nose and cause issues? It doesn’t look like it did, but hearing an answer would certainly put my mind at ease!

Thank you,
Anthony and Iccarus

I suppose it's possible for it to get into the nose if it drips that way (though the shape of their nose helps to angle liquid down to their mouth by design). I doubt it is likely to cause any trouble. Olive oil is not harmful to them and my guess is that it would either drain out of the nose or drain down to the mouth/throat.

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
Mirage entered brumation yesterday, I'm gonna miss hanging out with my little guy.
