old shed or scale rot?

Here I am back at it again. I noticed the other day when I gave Mordremoth a bath that he had an odd pinkish color on a patch of scales on the underside of his tail. When he dried the coloration went away. Then yesterday I noticed he had some thicker than normal scales coming off the area.

He has had some trouble shedding his tail after an accident when he was little where he managed to get his tail stuck in the wheel of my computer chair and pulled some scales off. (I still have no idea how he managed that. They're like kids you look away for a moment) So I didn't think much of it until I looked again today and the pinkish color has returned even though he's not had a bath today so I'm just wanting a second opinion to see if this might just be a old shed that got stuck or something more serious.

He’s been eating well and driving me a bit batty wanting to run around outside his cage constantly.

It looks like "SHE" is going to shed that area soon, judging by the cracks in the skin on the tail.

Yes looking at the pics you posted, it looks like he is a SHE!!!

Thanks for the reply that's what I was thinking but since it had that off color underneath it had me a bit worried.

I can see why you would think that he's a she from the pic but he is a he. I just checked with a light to be sure. I didn't lift his tail enough to show the base where the bumps showed.

No worries. It was kind of funny considering that I had someone think that my cat was a female last week. Apparently I have feminine looking guys.

I agree, that doesn't look like any problem at all. And although you already sexed him, the pictures here were not of the right area to determine the sex, it would have to focused down below to the vent area.

I just set Swordtail's timer for his bath and paused it so I could actually fill his soaking bowl up and he crawled over my phone and canceled the timer 🤣
Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
