I went to pick up a better basking bulb, we got a 75 watt flukers spot lamp, and a 100 watt halogen outdoor floodlight. The flukers was 12.99 and the 100 watt was 5.84.

Here is a pic with the halogen flood light.

Is this too focused? My parents are getting mad, I am getting frustrated because I can't find the correct light. Please help me.

Put your probe right in his basking spot if the temp is about 100-105 then you're good. You can use halogen or flood lights as basking bulbs as long as you get the proper basking spot temps.

Well I am testing the flukers to check the temps and I am hoping I get proper temps with it.

I am using 2 lights right now,a flood light and a regular household bulb to get the proper temps. Just make sure the probe is in the spot where your beardie normally bask to get a good idea for temps

94.8 and very slowly rising. I am getting very mad, and my parents are getting pissed off and yelling at me for all the bulbs we have bought. Only bulbs that I always find are equivalents, I want an exact 100W Bright White reading light or halogen light.

It is at 97.4. Will a 100W work? I have a 72W that is equivalent to a 100W, but I can't seem to get the temps all the way up with that.

I am not sure, I just have a 50 watt flood light with a 40 watt regular bulb to have my temps at 104, Maybe you need a 120 watt or something like that.

Lowes or home depot lighting section, par20 halogen floods from 50w-100w will get you the basking temps you need. If you could build a platform for your beardie to get him/her higher or closer to bulb(10-12"). I use a par20 halogen flood 50w and a par16 halogen flood 35w in two different locations both focus on a basking spot where temps range from 95-100(+). he is one happy camper at 1yr. old. Good luck

You can also get a higher watt halogen flood light and then use a dimmer switch to control the temp, that is what I had to end up doing because mine was either getting too hot or too cool.

Zach7, the basking lights and temp stuff are the easy parts. The hardest is finding the right uvb light source for your particular set-up. Any time you pass light(uvb) through a sceen lid you loose significant uvb light source for your beardie, especially the uvb tube lights. These lights, you need to get within 12" of beardie. The uvb is the most critical step in your viv. Generally speaking this is the expensive part of raising a beardie. Our viv is 4' x 2' x 2'. We run two 24" tubes in our viv. We stager them, one is 6 months older than the other. So one is new, the other is 6 months old and at 6 months the older on will be replaced. Basking lights are a par20 halogen 50w flood and a par16 halogen 35w flood, all bought at home depot or lowes. All our lights are housed inside the viv attached to the top lid of viv. Beardies are fun but their is a maintanence issue with the lights. Get that figured out for your viv and the rest is really fun, especially owning your beardie. Have fun!

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
