Finally got rid of the nasty sand and replaced it with shelf liner!!!

Only problem is Spike's tank is HUGE and didn't get enough shelf liner to cover all of it... paper towel covering the rest for now... until I go back into town...

But yay! I did something right for a change! Been feeling like such a lousy pet owner lately, couldn't seem to get anything right. Soooo.... let's hope he likes it!

Good for you! My husband insists that our girls need padding, so we have carpet (left over from when we bought our house) and non-adhesive shelf liner over top. The carpet is for padding and the shelf liner is to make it easier to clean. Thankfully they haven't pooped in their vivs for a long time.

Spike had a fun time getting used to the new flooring... rubbed his face around on it for quite a while before deciding it was evil and spending the rest of the evening perched up on a log. Silly bugger. And MAN is it ever easy to clean!!

Ooh the carpet thing is a good idea. I hated when I changed from sand to tile/shelf liner because it's just not soft. Right now I've got a little bin of playsand in the corner of Harlee's viv so she can still burrow. She gets pissy if she can't burrow! BTW I am proud of you... the fact that you are on this site doing research says you care.
