After reading a little bit I never knew that you were suppose to bath beardies. Not a big deal at all but what do i use? how do i do it ?and how often do i do it? petco told me to just mist him once a week and leave a dish of water in his tank for him to drink and that would be good enough. o almost forgot how warm do i make the water?

Thanks again.

You'll find a wide range of answers on this. But most do bath. Some once a week, others every day. 20mins of soaking time seems to be common. I soak my smaller ones in the bathroom sink. Baby bath water (temp). Luke warm. Some like it warmer, some cooler. Bigger ones can be soaked in the tub. Just deep enough that they can still touch bottom, but soak up to their shoulders if they want. Some will swim, dive under, etc. Others just sit and soack. Others just try to climb out the whole time.

Dry off when done before putting back in their cage.

Water in the cage is iffy... Some will drink, others won't. I don't put water in my tank. I mist and bath once or twice a week.

And don't worry if your beardie tries to jump out of the water. My Sunny HATES baths. But it is a good place for me to get him to poop without having him do it in his cage. (gets messy) I usually bathe Sunny every other day. In the kitchen sink. He will try as hard as he can to jump out. Then he will usually relax for a moment and "do his business".

Once in awhile, he will relax and let me drizzle water over his back and neck. But he usually resists me every step of the way!

I use the kitchen sink, I sanitize it with a bleach solution, rinse really well. Then I put enough warm (95*-100*checked w/temp gun) water to come up to my dragons arm pits. The temp really depends on what your dragon likes. Put him in and keep an eye on him(like a human kid), let him soak for 5-10 min 2-3x weekly. hope this helps :)

I bathe my girl in the bathroom sink at least every other day, every day if she has signs of shedding (which is quite often right now). For the most part, she doesn't like the bath. She does chill out and let me run water over her while she is in there, most of the time. If I have it a bit warmer than usual, she doesn't like it, but she also hates it when the water gets too cold. She lets me know when she is done; she jumps on my hand and climbs up my arm.

Mine doesn't poop in the bath, but I wish she did. I also have kind of a herp bathroom where we let our monitor and snake soak in the tub, too. We wash our hands in there, and use the restroom, but we don't bathe in that tub or use it for anything else. I don't have to disinfect it as often, and I really like that!

I'm an oddball... we take twice a day baths so that we don't get poop in the cage. The water has to be WARM or he just looks at me. I use a rubber/tupperware container to do it. Due to the change in his size, I'm having to use a larger rubbermaid container. Also... he likes to swim so the water is deeper than most say but I'm there all the time so no drowning for my baby.

mist him once a week? i heard that your supposed to mist him 2 times a day: when you turn on the beardie's lights on and when you turn them off.
I give my beardie a bath 1nce a day every day... i keep my beardie in there for about 15 min, and you might wanna watch your beardie cause his head might go underwater and he breath in water and get REALLY sick.
When my beardie's in the tub, and he poops in there, i just scoop it out with a disposable cup. its the most easiest thing to do, and its one less pile of poo to clean in his tank.

Misting does not do much for them at all. They take in water through the vent...on their underside. So misting them really does nothing.

If your beardie does not drink, which from what I gather, most do not, you need to get him into a bath to get some hydration.

My beardie always runs out of the bath right away. He doesn't seem to like it. Should I just use a deeper tub so he cannot climb out so easily? I can't take him out of his tank yet to get him to the sink- he's so skittish and jumps out of my hands right away. He's not super social, and I'm afraid he won't like me if I keep doing all these things he doesn't like.

I wasn't clear. I said I mist (once or twice a day). The bathing I do once or twice a week. Misting may not do much for the beardie, but I tend to mist her salad to keep it most and fresh (like at the grocery store when the 'sprinklers' turn on). Oh, and I don't 'turn on and turn off' my lights. I just use timers. That way I don't worry about forgetting since the lizards are kept in their own room.

95 or 100 degrees seems way to hot to bathe your dragon in. I know they like air and basking temps that warm, but water BOILS at 100 degrees. I surely wouldn't drop my dragon into water that's practically boiling!!

EDIT: Big duh, moment..water boils at 100*C. But considering that a comfy bath temp would be around 80-90, 100F is still pretty hot. Most people say to use a temp you would use for a baby, and 95-100 would be way too hot for a baby for sure.

I went to the local thrift store and bought a baby bath tub for my beardies. Cleaned it and disinfected it and they love it. Don't think the previous owners gave them baths. They had a huge water dish in their tank which has been replaced with a small one where they do drink out of. The big one was used for drinking and for them to bathe in on their own (most times at night). Not anymore though! They have a bath every other day and I mist their salads as well.

If you are basking your dragon at 100 degrees C, that is not good. 100 degrees F would be much better... 100 degrees F for water is fine. Boiling point in F is actually 212 degrees. Here in the USA, we tend to go with Fahrenheit and not Celsius as much for everyday conversation...

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
