OM Gosh! I don't even know what to say about those pics! The way she approaches the hornworms versus the silkworms is just so interesting! Obviously she sees them differently, not just as two kinds of soft-bodied worms. They must totally feel different to kill and eat. That is fascinating. One of the pics, I think in set #1, had her little tongue out as the last shot. Love that shot. Also one of the pics with the cat face in the background was cool. The cat face looks so curious. I bet the cats are great heaters to sit on.

Super cool pics. We had a hard time getting action eating shots with our animals. They just weren't that clear. Oh, the dragon-in-the-pocket shot was priceless. Scarlet will burrow herself into folds of clothing and blankets, too.

Her tongue makes an appearance anytime she eats. I hypothesize that it's to do with the last portion of swallowing. Sort of like that's the last part of sending it down the throat, like the act of sticking the tongue out is part of the muscle motion to push up the back of her tongue to send the bite down. She usually dose it with the fatter bodied butterworms and up, so the waxes, horns and silks. It doesn't happen with the supers, crickets or Phoenix Worms she's eaten. She basically completely refused the ReptiWorms, so I can't speak to them. It's really very interesting how her preferences have manifested.

The fatter hornworms definitely bring out more hunter-like behaviour in her. She downs the Phoenix Worms and superworms fast like chips or popcorn. She likes to watch the butterworms and waxworms crawl and roll around then snatch them up super fast. Waxworms have a stage, at the end when their fat has gone away and they've started their next stage of change, where they get those shells. She LOVES them that way. She likes it when the bit of worm wiggles, and they roll. Silk worms are hard to interest her in. I have to wave them at her or else keep them next to her main food dish. They hang out there, and when she's nearly out of the Phoenix Worms she goes on to the silkworms. I think they kind of bore her. It's incredible how different all the beardie tastes are.

Oh!! And I forgot to mention! She eats salad on her own! Not a ton, but enough that it's a start. She still prefers hand feeding, but I give it to her in a bowl. She does go into it. Wayne turns her lights on first thing and gives her the veg. She gets no worms until noon. It was so tough the first day!! :-(

Thank you! She did. She perks when she hears the camera and sees the flash. She knows something interesting is coming.

Thanks. She's the cutest. I may be biased. <3

Took this video today after her Phoenix Worms came in. I LOVE them because she loves them. They're a pricier feeder, but I wouldn't use the two other BSFL. I tried the RWs, and they died off or molted and died really fast. She didn't like the either. She was out for a week because I was debating between ordering the 400 count or the 1000 count. I went with the 1000 count. They go dormant in our beverage fridge in the basement. I love the vid because I got a great shot of that fat belly. She went nuts into the worms because she'd been missing them so much.

Interesting about the Phoenix worms, as we have never tried them, only the RW. Hmmmm. We have a lot more dragons so if the expense is that much, we won't do it. We just have so many other feeders with the silks, horns and roaches. I just started feeding supers, so that is a popular treat. Then again, Ginger loves RW and it's been a while since she has had any. It is neat to be able to compare the different preferences of all the dragons. They certainly are challanging to keep up with as they are always changing.

That's great news about the salad. At her age, my girls were only eating salad if hand-fed. Thank goodness we are pretty much past that. Ginger ate salad on her own for dessert tonight. :D

Phoenix Worms were $38 for a thousand. With me refusing to do any of the roaches, dubia etc, and having one beardie they're ok. I could see it being problematic with multiples. I just can't do the beetles. The thought makes me nauseous. I know they aren't THE roaches... I don't care. *shudder*

We may start supers when she's bigger. We tried them, and she pooped so loosely with the exo skeleton pieces. Ew.

Do your girls like fruit sometimes?

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
Mirage entered brumation yesterday, I'm gonna miss hanging out with my little guy.
