I have a reptisun bulb, a 100 watt incandescent bulb and an uth and my tank isn't getting warm enough. HELP! I think this is why Gwen is not pooping!! The incandest light fixture is 10" from the floor. I have to get something she can climb up on, as she had MBD, and what I had, she fell and got stuck, so I took it out. What should I use and how close to the lamp should she be getting. (I ordered the digital therm that is said on here to get, but in the meantime was just using regular therms and it is only showing 80 degrees under the lamp, on the floor. What will be safe for her to climb on to bask or do I need a stronger bulb???

Hi Pappy, it's recommended between 6-8 inches is safe, but any closer to the heat lamp may burn your beardie.

I'm surprised you can't get the right temps with all that though, all I use is a 40 watt heat lamp and I can get up to 105F. What size is your enclosure? Perhaps move it to a more warm part of the house or something.

Its in my daughters room and it is warm. It is a 40 gal breeder. The temp in on the floor, which is about 10 inches from the lamp. I put a rock in for her to bask on, but she panicked and fell and got wedged, so I took it out. She stays mainly on the area where the UTH is, which I have a 3 sided box over. I use paper towels in the bottom, as she cannot have any substate, as she had bad issues with impaction before (she was rescued from a very bad situation, and had MBD, but she is healthy now.) I am scared.

The easiest way is to have a fixture with a dimmer switch and a 150 watt bulb. Once you get the digital Thermo mount the sensor on the basking spot facing up. If its 10" move it closer and the temp will go up, also add a heat emmiter if needed.I keep my house cold so sometimes I use the full 150w and a heat emmiter to achieve desired temps

I will wait for the therm to get here and then make adjustments as needed. She still has not pooped. Will soak her again in a bit, give more oil, more belly message. I am getting really worried now.

She is using her rock to go up and down under the light. She pooped the other day, has not since then. Going to only give her worms every other day, see if I can get her to eat more greens. Anyone have any ideas on how to get her to do that???? Or some ideas on things I can try she might like? She doesn't move around alot (I am assuming from having had MBD, although her legs/bones look good to me. I have to download some pics on photobucket so I can put them up here.)

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
