That's great that you have a temp gun. How far away are you holding it from the area you're checking?

Also to note when using a probe thermometer best to wait a few mins to get an accurate reading. Unlike the IF guns they are quick/fast to get reading. For the probes, usually have to wait a few minutes then you will have your actual temperature

With the digital probe thermometers, you have to make sure the probe is attached to the basking spot and then you wait about 45 min for the temp to stop rising before getting the final readings. Otherwise, the reading won't be accurate.
