Reposting in beardie ER. I accidentally overmedicated!!!!

I just treated my little guy with Baycox/Toltrazuril 5% for coccidia. He's 127 grams and I gave him .05 cc two days in a row. He was VERY upset after I gave him the first dose-sat with his beard dark all day and didn't eat as much as he usually does. Prior to this, I'd only seen him with his beard darkened once-when the cat pounced at the front of his tank. He's really mellow-having something force fed to him was really upsetting.

I gave him the second dose yesterday and once again, his beard was dark all day and he didn't touch any of his food. He usually runs to his bowl of Phoenix Worms and he wouldn't even look at them. Well-he arm waved at them when I put him in front of them :? but otherwise ignored them and his greens and crickets.

He was the same all day today. He's also lethargic and looked a bit dehydrated. I've been giving him long baths and just got some bene-bac to try to give him. I was planning on dusting his food, but if he's not eating, I don't know how I'll get it into him.

He's been pooping right on time.

Any input? Is it common for them to feel bad after being medicated? I'm feeling that the first day was mostly stress, but today he just didn't look like he felt very well. I'm really worried about him :(

Aaaaaah....the stress of being a beardie mommy! I don't think I worried this much about my daughter when she was a baby.

Thanks in advance for any input.

I'm sorry to hear of the accident. Have you tried giving oral fluids? If he won't take plain water, try adding a little non-sweetened juice. The bebe-bac is good. If I understand correctly, one cannot give too much probiotic. The body will flush out the excess. Hang in there!

I've dribbled water on his nose but he didn't take any. He had two 20 minute baths so I hope that helps. Sitting with him right now-I'm exhausted but afraid to go to bed. I may put him in his little travel tank next to my bed so I can check on him easily during the night.

Will push oral fluids tomorrow. Wish I would have had this realization before he fell asleep.

They do absorb some water through their vents. oral is best, though. So he did get some, which is a lot better than none. :) Is he breathing regularly?

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
Mirage entered brumation yesterday, I'm gonna miss hanging out with my little guy.
