Norris explains that he'd really rather not eat anything else and please go away, Tree.

If I can't see you then you can't see me, right?

still there?

of course, I left him alone after that. You can see his pellets (he gets five a day for a treat) and bee pollen in his leaf. And his mini salad in the background.

hehe thanks, I am immensely fond of him. I would like to be fond of his immenseness.

Oh Maggie! I meant to tell you, I got my lap top back with a new motherboard but even after massive driver updates I have no sound and something is wrong with the video so I'm waiting for a tech to call back. At least it is here! :D

Norris has great color contrast, I love it.
Cute little guy

Thanks! I know it will mute out as he gets older but I hope he keeps at least some of it. His belly was a bit gray in some of those...He was annoyed with the idea of eating today.

Norris weighed in at 15 grams and measured 8" So even though yesterday as a low food day his weight over all is still increasing. He took eleven bites of salad this morning. Ate about half of it. I was amazed. It was dandelion greens mixed with collard greens with very little mango just on the very top. By far his biggest salad day. He also consumed 13 small dubia nymphs and 4 small crickets thus far. I'll probably try to sneak a little bit more to him before it gets too late.

This is great.
Pretty soon he might be eating you out of house and home

He is welcome to it! Sounds like a lot of splinters though and talk about impaction risks!

When we picked Norris from the rest of the babies, we chose him because he seemed laid back but alert. He wasn't skittish at all and was completely comfortable with being picked up/ put down, etc. Should I ever find myself having to chose another bearded baby, I will be calling people asking for the biggest chow hound I can find. :p Colors, pppth! whatever! I want a dragon who's food I'm going to have to LIMIT. :D oh, and spikes, naturally. I love me some spikes.

Yummers, to dandelion greens! I can't believe that here in the south I have to go to the next town down in order to get them  I think it is time to ask my grocer to carry them, please.

Ok, so it is only a 10 mile trip LOL But I like my little town where everything I need it less than 3 miles away and most of it is less than 2! I have had the city enough. Maybe it is those *senior moments* that do me in

I love that you count the bites! I think most of us do that in the beginning! Razz just started eating greens oh, maybe 10 days or so ago and we still watch how much he eats LOL I keep giving myself anxiety attacks thinking he will go off his greens  LOL And 11 bites is A LOT! Especially for a little guy just growing :)

Keep up the good work!

Hi Sherri,
Our regular market doesn't carry them but we have another market that carries the bee pollen and the fresh dandelion greens and all sorts of other fun stuff for him and for us to experiment with. My diet has certainly expanded. I have to try all these different greens and I'm usually buying far more than I'll use so we've been separating some out and adding them to our meals as well.
I'm really not OCD...really! really! *LOL* It's just that Norris is so amazingly indifferent to food at times. I watch these videos of people just dumping in food and their lizards going nuts and sigh. Take today as an example. Today was a good food day. I cut up salad and put it in his viv and let it be...came back, he's in the same spot so I moved him to the salad. He took seven (counting again :D ) bites then ran up his tree. Offered a cricket, he ignored it and closed his eyes. I removed the cricket and came back a little while later. Put cricket in, he watched from his tree...wait..wait...move Norris from his tree to a spot close to the cricket. He ate the cricket WHOOHOO! Try another cricket...wait..wait..herd the cricket back to Norris...herd the cricket back towards him again (one legged crickets can still move) Whoowhoo he ate another! Third cricket...he ignores it and runs to his tree. Perhaps a Dubia? I get a dubia nymph and walk it around with my dubia herding stick...Norris inspects it from the top of his tree but declines to do more. I step back but then he watches me and completely ignores the bug...okay plan two, pick up the nymph (ick) and put in his leaf bowl..Ahah! I see interest! He comes closer and eats! I do a mental dance and quickly replace it with another hoping he will be fooled into thinking he somehow missed the first one and will strike again...but no...he has walked off.
But I will not be thwarted! I lift him up and give him a nice rub and then hold him where he can see the new dubia...will he take it? It's a good food day, after stirring it around his bowl and flipping it over on it's back Norris decides that he can maybe eat..chomp. As my husband walks in and says "what the hey? You are holding him and he ate? Isn't he lazy enough?" To which I can only agree...and yet, over the course of the day I teased him into eating three extra dubia by holding him.

This is a typical good day. I feel like I'm having to convince him for almost every bite which is why they all get counted :p I was so excited when he ate all those dubia the first night we had them. I thought our problem was completely solved. But I guess it was just the sheer novelty of it that got his attention. As soon as the weather cools off a bit, I plan on ordering a variety of worms for him to ignore or love as he will. Right now at 112F they just won't make it to the post office.

I write this half ranting at my poor little Norris the Morris and half laughing, okay, mostly laughing :p

YAY Mirthy!! He's gaining and growing! What a trooper!! I've just ordered some bee pollen for Dresden and Nezzie hoping it helps their appetites too with the worming. I officially have feeding envy - both of mine are totally lacking in appetites. I think they need to start taking some notes from Norris the Morris.

Did the tech help fix the computer? Would ordering worms be an option if they could hold them at the post office for you?

The tech didn't call back! I'm kind of in NY at the moment but I'll be back home by tomorrow afternoon early! Work, what can you do? but it pays the bills. Hubby says Norris ate pretty well...I call and it's the first thing he says, he knows me so well. :D He gives a low down on the food.
I tried to have a hold at Post Office on my phoenix worms but they sent them out anyway. When I went in the next day to pick them up the lady at the counter gave a gasping "Oh my god!" I thought it was because they were worms..but it was because they went out. She was really cool. Since Norris has only shown the most passing interest in worms, I'm thinking it's probably better to wait. The poor phoenix worms didn't fair so well after being cooked on a mail truck.
Anyway, no pics today but I will get some tomorrow! Lots of missed the dragon snuggles.
Take care all.
Extra best wishes to your two, Maggie. Sending eat eat vibes right back at them!

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
Mirage entered brumation yesterday, I'm gonna miss hanging out with my little guy.
