No Poop Before Brumation

Hello I'm new but I'm worried. I adopted a 3 year old male dragon 2 weeks ago & he was eating. He even ate some salad because I snuck a few worms in.
I had him outside too for real sun besides his UV.
Problem is that he began brumating(?) 5 days ago on the cool side of his tank. We were both still getting to know each other & he never pooed since I've had him.
Now that he's gone to sleep before pooing I'm worried about the food he had eaten for days beforehand.
By the way I tried soaking him a few times in warm water before sleeping & he HATED it! I couldn't keep him in there for more than 30 seconds. In fact being inexperienced, I experienced a nasty bruise from a bite when he wheeled around at my stomach.
Sorry for the long post but should I give him to someone more experienced? I've researched my head off but I just worry about all of this.

Hi Paula....it's likely that this is all stress related, including his inactivity which this time of year will probably not last long and is not a true brumation. His former owners prob. never or rarely bathed him. It's O.K not to bathe him , just offer water via syringe or spray bottle, dripping gently on his snout until he drinks. Many beardies go for seemingly long periods without pooing....you can offer [ along with water ] canned pumpkin, baby food squash, prunes, green beans, unsweetened applesauce and to any of those add a few drops of veg. oil or honey. Those are all natural laxatives.

But he may not poo for 2-3 weeks and still be fine....just be patient and offer any combination of things I listed, he should be O.K. :) Hopefully he'll settle in soon + not be too stressed by handling.

Thank you for making me feel better! I'm older & have never owned a reptile (we have a bunny/guinea pig/bird sanctuary) so I've only been used to mammals.
That said I love Rufus but almost gave him to someone today. Instead.....I gave him another warm soak, & added another heat light to his tank on the cool side. He stayed awake & basked in his basking spot. I gave him a few superworms in a salad & he ate (the worms anyway & bit of dusted salad. He looks very alert, not sick like I thought. Thank goodness I didn't make a mistake today out of panic

That sounds good. :) You added an extra bulb + he became more active ? How is he doing now ? What wattage bulbs do you have, and do you know the temps. ? Can you post any pics of him and his setup ? To do so you can load the pics to a site like photobucket or tinypic and then copy/paste the img/url here.

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!

Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
