Hi, I have owned beardies before.. But never this young... Usually they were about double this size... Probably 4mos old+. These guys are just barely 1.5mos old, and not even that old. The guy was all "1 month, 3 weeks, 4 days, 2 hours.." You get my drift... They're tiny... I have a starter colony of dubia coming in the A.M. I have a shallow water dish, a heat lamp, newspaper, etc... But since they are so much smaller, I am unsure their do not do, and this could really kill thems... Please let me know...

Hi there....since you've had beardies before you probably know about proper lighting. It's always good to be absolutely sure on that, so there is a good article on the right hand side of the page under care + husbandry. One thing to be VERY careful is to not feed them prey items that are larger tthan the space between their eyes. It's critical especially when the babies are very small. Dubias are fat + round, so be even more careful with them. Be sure that the water dish doesn't raise humidity. To hydrate young babies, use a spray bottle, eyedropper or feeding syringe to gently dribble water on their snouts without getting the entire tank wet or the paper soggy. Paper towels will be easier to work with than newspaper until they get bigger, or you can even leave the floor bare until they are bigger and just spot clean the tiny poos. Don't walk around with them on your shoulder, babies will jump off in a second and can get seriously hurt.

Those are a few tips.....hopefully the babies will grow up with no problems and you'll enjoy your new little ones. :)

Thank you. I had long forgotten most if not all of those rule of thumbs. The water dish ir relatively small and isn't all the way full. They are temporarily together. The breeder had a spare 20gal so I took advantage of the opportunity to get a pretty much free lamp, water dish, lid and tank...

I just set Swordtail's timer for his bath and paused it so I could actually fill his soaking bowl up and he crawled over my phone and canceled the timer 🤣
Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
