no interest in food or coming out from under log

Hi,
I know when they are about the shed they may seem uninterested in food but this is day 2 now that he hasnt come out from under his log.
He has shed many times before and never shown this behavior so im wondering if something is wrong with him.
He is about 8 months old now and previous to this was fine...eating crickets, lettuce, carrots etc.
Any ideas?

I'm sorry you posted this on 12/27 and haven't had any response. The holiday have everyone so busy! How is he right now? Has he shed completely yet? Is he still sleeping?

We have a 6-1/2 month old bearded dragon who has been trying to go in and out of brumation for the last 6 weeks or so. He is very large for his age and our vet said he goes by size/sexual maturity and not age with bearded dragon's behavior. Even though our dragon is just over 6 months old he is adult size and adult sexual maturity and he is therefore brumating due to the cold weather. We are in Florida so the weather has been pulling our leg going to 40 degrees one week and 80 degrees the next, and Chief tries to brumate with every temperature drop. It's been a yo-yo situation for us not knowing what he is doing! :lol: :lol: Poor guy!

Being that it is winter it is entirely possible that your dragon is doing the same thing.

It got cold again here last Thursday and Chief went to sleep in his log and is still asleep.

Please give an update and let us know how he is doing.

He is still doing the same thing. Sometimes he eats sometimes not. he spends alot of time under a log.
He hasnt gone to the bathroom in about 5 or 6 days. (i guess because he isnt eating much)
he looks healthy.

My beardie is somewhere between 4-6 months, and she refused to eat and hide for about a month becuase I had her temps too hot (new to beardies, my baaaad!) but thanks to this site, and a few special people, I got her temps right and now she comes out and eats greedily.

What temps have you got and what thermometer?

The basking spot is between 108 and 110
the cool side is 75 to 78
is the basking spot too hot?
im using therm with the leads so i can place them in the right spots

They're fine temps, but you may wana try reduce the basking spot to between 100-105F, see how your beardie likes that. My beardie seems to like it a few degrees colder than most, and will only bask and eat when it's around 102F.
Take this answer with a pinch of salt though, I have no evidence or other sources to back this up. Just an idea. Hopefully someone more knowledgeable will help.
