Hi everyone!
I know I'm not a regular around these here parts, but I have a pretty serious question. I'm not going to babble on, here are some things that might help you guys in assisting me in my adventures with Eva. I read online bearded dragons are supposed to lay eggs every 4 weeks, with or without a male. correct me if I'm wrong first egg laying reptile.
.We have had Eva since December 2011. she is a rescue. I have confirmed she is female.
.Eva is our only bearded dragon, and has not been in contact with a male for well over 10 months(I don't know if that effects how often they lay eggs)
.Eva has never laid eggs with us.
.Eva is a little underweight(she has no fat on her back at all, the ribs are clearly visible and easy to feel) and has been since we got her. We feed her often(anywhere from 4-7 times a week) and she exercises for about 2-7 hours a day, with at least 5 hours basking under proper UVB and UVA lights
.Her tank is kept at proper temperatures and humidity levels.
.She has about 1-2 inches of sand. she was kept in maybe 1/2 an inch when we got her. I have read that this is unacceptable for egg laying and will buff up at least half of her tank to 6" ASAP.
Eva has been lethargic recently, and shes been hiding under her a log a lot(she usually only hides under there to go to sleep, or when shes stressed) any help would be appreciated. I'd like to avoid a vet visit, so if you have any advice as to what we could do at home that would be appreciated.
EDIT: we just had Eva out for about 20 minutes and all she did was sit on the floor and flatten out whenever something came near her, so we put her away. this is not normal behavior for her at all. I know they can have mood swings and all that but its so frustrating not knowing the cause.
