Hi everyone!

I know I'm not a regular around these here parts, but I have a pretty serious question. I'm not going to babble on, here are some things that might help you guys in assisting me in my adventures with Eva. I read online bearded dragons are supposed to lay eggs every 4 weeks, with or without a male. correct me if I'm wrong :( first egg laying reptile.

.We have had Eva since December 2011. she is a rescue. I have confirmed she is female.
.Eva is our only bearded dragon, and has not been in contact with a male for well over 10 months(I don't know if that effects how often they lay eggs)
.Eva has never laid eggs with us.
.Eva is a little underweight(she has no fat on her back at all, the ribs are clearly visible and easy to feel) and has been since we got her. We feed her often(anywhere from 4-7 times a week) and she exercises for about 2-7 hours a day, with at least 5 hours basking under proper UVB and UVA lights
.Her tank is kept at proper temperatures and humidity levels.
.She has about 1-2 inches of sand. she was kept in maybe 1/2 an inch when we got her. I have read that this is unacceptable for egg laying and will buff up at least half of her tank to 6" ASAP.

Eva has been lethargic recently, and shes been hiding under her a log a lot(she usually only hides under there to go to sleep, or when shes stressed) any help would be appreciated. I'd like to avoid a vet visit, so if you have any advice as to what we could do at home that would be appreciated.

EDIT: we just had Eva out for about 20 minutes and all she did was sit on the floor and flatten out whenever something came near her, so we put her away. this is not normal behavior for her at all. I know they can have mood swings and all that but its so frustrating not knowing the cause. :banghead:

i would definitely feed her more.... you say 4-7 times a week you feed her?

i would keep it at 7. i normally do a salad every day and crix every other (sometimes even less, its about 70%veg 30%insects), she is most likely not laying eggs because he body isn't well enough to go through that process..

im no expert by any means but someone else who is should come along :)

Yikes every 4 weeks sounds really frequent! I'm not disputing it though (especially since I'm a new beardie owner), just saying. We've had our female for almost 4 weeks now and she hasn't shown any indication of egg-laying. She's definitely getting enough food and calcium though. Maybe it depends on the dragon?

EDIT: My bad. Looks like beardies can lay (infertile) eggs every 3 to 4 weeks during spring and summer. I do know that since they're indoors with relatively stable temps they don't always "know" what season it is though.

Usually with females before they lay completely stop eating and dig like crazy. You can feel belly for eggs as well. I have a baby female myself and research for her a lot. If you know how much she weighs you can give liquid calcium by the cc's for the total grams she weighs. Baby's I do know need calcium 5x a week. But if your sure she's pregnant extra calcium is a must for females developing eggs. It's hard on your body's as well. That's the reason there lifespan is shorter then males. Just a few things to think about and help you. You wanna be safe then sorry. Hope your female does well in the near future and with eggs.

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
