No Blue Online Ribbon/Question for Alex?

Alex this has been puzzling us for a couple of months now when it started happening to Dawn and Kate. The only logical answer we could find was that they went into the user control panel to hide their online status. And for some reason it is partially stuck. But then after this today that shot that theory in the behind.

Yeah... that's really odd. I guess there may be a default in the User Control Panel for that login setting (didn't think there was but I don't know every config option by heart).

It's hard for me to be sure, because as an admin, I do see things others don't (such as the email icon for every user, even if email is hidden from general public). I will try setting up a test account later and see what happens.

Okay but what about the friends list then...how does that fit into this crazy little situation.

Really Alex we are not nuts we really don't see them other than that pic you posted. And when we are online we should appear on our friends list above the other friends devided with a line...if not online we should appear below the line. We are always below the line.

No. Other than running some tests, I really can't answer the question. I did not write the software that makes these forums, so I really have no idea what the logic is behind the scenes for displaying the little banner tag. It could even be a bug in the forum software that might be fixed in a an update.

I would expect having people listed as friends would have any effect on it, but it's possible that some programmer created some condition for it. But again... I'll have to test and figure that out when I have a chance.

Barbara, I just checked your profile and it does say to "show" when you are online so that isn't the issue. Hopefully Alex can get it figured out, sure is puzzling.

Yeah! I have never click on the hide online status in the user control panel only the little box when you are on the log on page. We have done that for over a year Frank hides in the morning when he logs on and reads up on the post so everyone doesn't think I'm online. Then when I get on the computer I log out and back on unhidden. I just started using the friends list when Dawn explained it to me. But according to my friends I'm not showing that I'm online there either. But then Alex took the pic's of his computer screen and clearly he could see the blue ribbon. It's just one of those baffling things....So how do we drive Barbara crazy? :lol:
