Nikka's World (new fresh pics jan24!)

I adopted Nikko August 20. He's just a few weeks old. 7 inches then and 7 1/2 inches as of yesterday (aug31). I waited the 2 week mark to start our own thread. Just worried I'd somehow mess up caring for him in my nervousness to do it all perfectly.

Oct27, 2011 Found out he is a she and is now called Nikka instead of Nikko.. Weight 30 grams. Length is the same.
Nov14, 2011 Weight 50 grams. Total Length 10 1/2 inches.
Nov21, 2011 Weight 62 grams.
Nov30, 2011 Weight 84 grams. | Total Length 11 1/2 inches.
Dec20, 2011 Weight 140 grams. | Total Length 14 inches. Wow!!
Jan24, 2012 Weight 264 grams. Total Length 17 inches. She's almost doubled weight in a month! New pics to go with this pg10

Nikko is looking great! Ember is a bit younger than him - she's probably close to 3 months old at this point so his stats seem perfectly normal to me. Ember is about 30 grams, but I haven't measured her in about a week so I can't tell you if she's closer to 8 inches or 9 inches.

Have you gotten brave enough to try sexing him again? We can help if you can post a pic too Hope your family is all better soon!

If he's a dude- he's not very dude'y down there. LOL I tried looking today and MAN it was a pain. I just couldn't tell anything. LOL Poor thing. He kept looking at me like "are you done with my butt now mom?". haha. I will get some pics and maybe someone else can see what I can't though!

Had to post some more of my lovely LADY- Nikki. She totally has a bulge instead of a dent. She really seems to enjoy outside. Still intimidated a bit but she does love to look around if I hold her. She was basking and showing off her outdoor colors. <3




Nickname when she does this is 'pancake dragon'- my kids think she is so silly when she gets flat.

Nikko is definitely a girl. I checked again tonight and there is a lovely and noticeable bulge above her vent. It's too hard to say Nikki after saying Nikko for 2 months so we have been calling her Nikka. And that seems to roll off the tongue better. She has a huge poo today and pooped a lot of normal poo and at the end - like a third...ugh...turd log thingy lol was half undigested worm. Which is SO weird because her lights we accidentally on for 14 hours yesterday (worked too long in my office and didn't notice the time) and she basked ALL day. How the heck? So weird!

When she is big enough for a leash- I am totally getting her a hot pink one. Can't wait!

So I missed Nikka's bath the last 2 nights. I usually give her one every night. So I decided to give her her bath early today. She usually poos before noon but it was 4pm and still a no go. Low appetite (normal for her when she hasn't done her daily poo) and she was looking so sad. So I opted to bathe her anyway. I was 'brushing' her a little bit with her body brush as she just finished a shed and making sure she got it all. She was extra wiggly and started swimming a round a little bit. So I got out my cell and video taped her 'swimming'. It's the first time she has ever done it and it was so darn cute. Well my hand was around her sides 'petting' her - it made her wiggly and she would swim....well while taping I noticed something brown emerging from under here where my hand was gahhhhhh she was pooping and my hand was RIGHT there. All on video. LOL Her first swim AND her first poo in the bath all in one day! I washed the heck out of my hands. Just sayin;. :lol:

Drachen usually 'swims' as she poos and then relaxes once I clean it up. If I bathe them both together which I do when they are on a shed week, strangely they both shed usually same week lol, she is usually kind of active neither shows signs of dominance or stress marks while bathing together though Treven, being smaller, obviously is afraid of her.

My how she's grown! She is over 9 inches now and about 45 grams. She is starting to like the beardie pellets a lot- but she will only eat them from my hand. Silly girl. She loves the red ones the best.

She eats butter worms and dubias everyday. I must have had some pregnant dubias because I find that I have a bunch if itty bitty babies- and I don't think they stay that small after a few weeks right? Hmm!

She doesn't like squash unlike most beardies. Maybe a youth thing?

Nikka still just sits in her bath. Not a swimmer. It's like she is saying "git r done" when she gives me the bathtub stink eye.

Nikka is growing! And shedding. A face shed currently (and front legs). She now weighs 50 grams and is 10 1/2 inches long. I guesstimate she is nearly 5 months old.

Some awesome pics of my pretty princess outside on a 68 degree fall day in Cali. We've discovered she loves my little herb garden and loves to nibble the oregano and rosemary. She dislikes basil. Silly girl.
