Well, I've been so busy lately. Sorry I haven't been posting much, but all is well with our scaly friends (Loki is closing in on a year old). In fact, we just got two leopard geckos last week. We've been taking pictures here and there, since we have a photo album we plan on filling with our reptiles.
Here's Nexus and Loki in their new pet bed. Keeps them warm for ages, and is quite soft. Was on sale at Petco. (I know, chain stores evil, but this one deserves some credit. All the reptiles, birds, small furry creatures, and everything looked really healthy.)
They both love the bed, and still like sleeping near each other. As long as they stay away from the other's tank they don't mind each other. We've been taking them out quite a bit. The pet bed also makes it easier to bring them on car rides, and is a little safer then just having them in a blanket or shoulder. They've been quite welcome in many places.
When I last went to Petco in either December or January, I was looking for a stand for Loki's lights. I ended up looking at their reptiles (big surprise), and I was incredibly impressed. They all looked well kept. They even had a few young beardies, kept separate and on repti carpet. I saw a few critters eating. No poop left in any tanks, some crickets left in tanks, but I'll give them the benefit of the doubt there. For about a month now John and I had planned on getting leopard geckos. I've heard such wonderful things about them, and John seemed interested. (A little skeptical since all the geckos he'd ever known had been mean, including leos)
So, we cleaned out an old 20L, and went to the petco to look around. I checked everything out, and it was still as well kept. And I know they've been there for at least 5 years (there used to be a comp USA there that I shopped at). There were 2 tanks with leopard geckos, one with really small babies, and another with older ones. John fell so in love with them. We'd planned on just getting one, but left with two. They've settled in, and are doing well. We think they've been handled often, since they seem so comfortable with it. They ate the first day, and the smaller one already shed. They're active and soooooooooooo cute! The darker/larger/more curious one loves climbing, we've put textured backgrounds up on 2 sides for him/her (too young to be certain yet). The other lighter/shier one likes digging/squishing into places. I could go on about them for pages, but on to the pics!
This is the darker one the first night (the tank is half sand half repti carpet, since the smaller one likes digging so much)
Here's him a few days later (yeah, he's gonna shed now too)
Here's the other one
And another
And here's the two of them
And finally, here's Oscar, who might need to go on a diet soon. lol
