Dear all BD slaves,

I've just came across two items I'd like to share with you all.

1- Arcadia has launched a new UVB tube that is 10% T8 fixture with an alleged 3 months longer life than other tubes.
Have a look yourself: http://www.arcadia-reptile.com/products/euro-range-fluorescent-lamps/
Any comments would be greatly received.

2- I have obtained an electronic copy (through my university) of Mader' Reptile Medicine and Surgery 2nd ed 2006. Due to UK copyright law, I'm only allowed to copy 10% of the book so if there are any of you who would like a chapter on a specific area I'd be pleased to provide it.

Best Wishes,
Steve.

Is there a study on blood panel results in healthy bearded dragons? That information is SO hard to find to use as a baseline. If the book has that kind of info, I'd be very interested. Thanks!! :D

Hello Stevo,

Great that you were able to find the Mader surgery book, even if it is limited.
The book doesn't really have blood test studies per say, but the baseline values for measuring an array of reptiles & chelonians.
If you have any questions, just let me know. I have the book, too.
I have heard of the new Arcadia D3 12% tube bulb coming out also. It is supposed to be very good, almost like the High Output one, too.

Dear Tracie,

Do you think uvguide.co.uk will be including this new tube in their most recent study? I cannot wait to see the new results to which they are currently working on. In the new arcadia 10% is included and proven to be what it says it is, I will surely be purchasing it as it's around 33% cheaper than the current one I'm using. Despite this, I still await such results with optimism.

The Mader book is excellent but not bearded dragon specific, rather a general practitioners guide. So that should be noted. Would you agree Tracie?

Just an update on Deano, he seems a lot better today after lowering his temps to around 100. Although, his fecal test is due tomorrow and the clinic are going to email it to me so I don't have to go down for it.

Best wishes,
Steve.

Hi Steve, I would be interested in seeing chapter 54 as my beardie Lotus may be on the edge of having gout (thankfully I had Tracie look at her blood work instead of just trusting the vet). Tracie - if you could tell me the blood work baselines you use to determine a healthy dragon (along with whatever publication reference it came from) then I would love to see that. I'm trying to be like you & teach myself how to read test results and such! :D

I just set Swordtail's timer for his bath and paused it so I could actually fill his soaking bowl up and he crawled over my phone and canceled the timer 🤣
Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
