Hi, I'm Emma. I first saw a Beardie when I took my daughter to
see "Nim's Island" quite a while ago - I thought he was fantastic but I
didnt believe that he was real and dismissed him as a computer
animatronic! About 2 weeks later, I popped into a reptile store and lo,
and behold, there was a real life Beardie. He had a damaged tail (which
had been bitten off as a baby) BUT we all fell in love with him and I
bought him a week later. We have named him "Stumpy" and hes 2 years
old. Its been a really interesting time. Everything about Beardies are
fascinating. The kids especially love looking at his food - crickets ,
mealworms and especially the locusts. My 3 year old has absolutely no
fear, which is pretty amazing.
As we are getting on so well with Stumpy, we thought that we would get
another Beardie. So today, we are the proud owner of a yellow Beardie,
who we have named "Dandelion"- shes 3 years old. They're slowly
starting to get used to one another, hopefully they should settle down
by 2moro! Its great having a Beardie family and I'm sure that the fun
will continue for a long time.
