So, I just purchased my 1st Bearded Dragon! Im stoked, this little fello is about 6inces long and seems a bit lazy? I purchased a Zilla Basic Desert Kit. Bought a good size rock cave thing and some tree looking decoration along with a water dish. He has munched a bunch of small crickets and just chills. Im concerned about the lighting that the set up came with - Day White Spot Light and Night Black Heat Bulb? It is a 10gallon tank / screened lid. Temp is just below 90 and the humidity is 20%. Is this normal, or should I buy different bulbs for the little dragon? Also, can you tell me how to post pictures? Thank you!

not sure about how to post pictures.
But you will need to get his basking temp spot to 110f
get a ubv tube light such as reptisun10 or arcadia12 place this 6-8 inches from the dragon.
Don't use sand for substrate. Use paper or tiles.
Get him a bigger tank. Smallest recommended for bearded dragon is 3 foot by 1.5 by 1.5
Don't use any night bulb or light source at night.

Hi, welcome to the forum and congrats on your new baby. Babies are very particular with their needs so you need to make sure everything is perfect for them. Would you be able to give us a little more info about your setup? What is the wattage of the basking bulb? Did this kit come with a UVB light, if so, which one and type? What type of thermometer are you using, a digital strip, round gauge, digital with long wire & probe end or a temperature gun? Where exactly are you taking the temps? What substrate do you have on the bottom of the tank?

How many crickets is he eating a day and what greens are you feeding?

Babies can get dehydrated very quickly so I recommend giving a warm bath (tested by the inside of your wrist) at least 3 to 4 times a wk. Put a wash cloth or small towel down in the bottom of the sink or transparent container to keep him from sliding around so that he feels more secure. Be sure to watch him very closely as they can drown in a very small amt of water and that's the reason we don't recommend using a water bowl in the tank for a baby.

Can't wait to see pictures. :p

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
Mirage entered brumation yesterday, I'm gonna miss hanging out with my little guy.
