Newbie Owner: nose discolouration

I bought my dragon from petsmart last weekend (I know the woman in charge of the reptiles she has 3 beardies). I'm thinking he's 3-4 months old 10" long.
When I brought him home he ate 5 crickets & a couple peas. Ever since then I've had a really hard time getting him to eat. I've never seen him eat any veggies even when I hold it in front on him. He sees to no longer chase bugs. I try feeding him crickets twice a day but he'll only eat maybe one. He's gotten pretty lethargic & always trying to bury his nose in somewhere dark (or on me) or bask. I don't see him leave his basking spot much, even thought my temps are bang on. Today I assist fed him 3 butterworms for the fat content because I'm worried he's too skinny.
He has been pooping everyday even though not eating.

This evening I noticed his mouth/nose had some dark/gray scales. I don't think it's mouth rot, but not sure. It wasn't there all week I've had him, or even earlier today.

Any advice would be appreciated. I'm really worried about my little guy. I haven't named him because I'm worried I'm going to lose him.

Tank: 40 gallon (36x18x18)
Substrate: paper towel
UVB: reptisun 10.0 linear
Basking: zoomed 100w
I have a infrared heat gun I use to take the temps. Basking spot is 95-110 depending on where he sits, usually he sits in the 100 range. Hot side 85-90 cool side 75-80. I have a ceramic heat emitter but I'm not sure where I should put it. I was using it at night but the temps never drop past 70-75 & he usually sleeps in his cave anyways. I have a timer for the lights set to 8am-9pm. When I wake up at 9 he's usually out basking, I'll add a salad made of some of the following romaine, carrots, pepper, squash, zucchini, kale, peas. I'll sprinkle repcal on his salad & spray it with water. I'll try to feed him as many crickets as he wants dusted with repcal, but he'll only eat 1 or 2 I see him stare at them look at them but he won't go after them. I've been misting him several times a day & dripping water on his nose. So far I've given him 2 baths, I've had him for a week.

Since his habit is in order the only other thing I can suggest is putting raw honey on it. Dilute with some warm water and make sure there are no crickets in his cage with the honey on him. Have you tried gently washing his mouth make sure that is not bug guts?

I looked at it, it's not coming off. This morning it seems to have faded a bit. He does try to dig a lot & surfs along the glass; ends up bumping his nose on the glass.
Just seems like it just went from nothing to all over his nose.
Assist fed him 5 crickets & syringe fed him some water, seems to be in better spirits & less stress marks.
