Newbie list of ???

Ok so I’m getting a beardie soon and I just have some questions.
1) What kind of bulb should I use for UVB and basking?
2) What should I use to gut load crickets?
3) What kind of supplements do I need for cricket dusting and when do i dust? (Brand names would be appreciated)
4) I work in a garden center and got a medium sized oval shaped black rock, is it ok to use as a basking site?
5) What is salad topper and do i need it?
6) What are the absolute essentials that I need in the tank before he comes home? (It’s coming up quick and I can get things that are not vital right now later)
I think thats it for now sorry for all the questions but I’m nervous about making everything just right for my baby when I get him. Thank You

1) What kind of bulb should I use for UVB and basking?
Basking = normal household light will work fine as long as it keeps temps.
UVB - reptisun 10.0 (recommended) or repti-glo 10.0 fluorescent (size will vary on tank)
2) What should I use to gut load crickets?
You can purchase stuff specific for gut loading or feed them fruits/veges, greens, exc. I personally recommend dubias.
3) What kind of supplements do I need for cricket dusting and when do i dust? (Brand names would be appreciated)
Calcium w D3 and a multi vitamin, exc. can order offline or your local pet store should carry flukers/zoo med/exo terra

Tank, substrate, light (basking,uvb) thermometer probes, basking spot, cheap timer for lights (walmart has one for 3.96 that works fine) should be good to get you started

Will just add a little info based on what I do. Subjective info, of course.

2) What should I use to gut load crickets?

I like using cat or dog food for my feeders (roaches and micro superworms). I was using crushed Innova dog food, and when I had crickets, they would eat that, too. Now, for roaches and superworms, I use crushed Purina One Beyond cat food. Cat food is higher in protein than dog food, so I thought I would make the switch when Petsmart had the Purina One on special. The roaches don't seem to have a preference for either, but the superworms are usually all over the cat food.

As Kaco said, fruits/veggies are also good. I generally use whatever is leftover from the greens I've bought to prepare Wave's food, and bits and pieces of the vegetables we're likely to have in the house (potatoes, carrots, parsnips).

5) What is salad topper and do i need it?

Just the stuff you might put on top of the greens - other veggies (like cut-up peppers, which Wave loves) or fruit. It's just the enticing stuff. :wink: I generally do a day with a topping, then a day without.
