Newbie-First Beardie

Hello! I got my first beardie this weekend. I am a science teacher and I'm amassing a reptile collection for my classroom. I recently adopted a baby bearded dragon, and boy has it stolen my heart!

I've been reading all of the articles and starting to search the forums. Thanks for all of the great information on this site!

I never thought I would like a reptile. My 17 year old daughter got a bearded dragon last month for Christmas and i love the little guy/gal already. I am interested to hear about your experience having it as a classroom pet. What ages do you teach? I am hoping as our Gizmo gets older my daughter will allow me to bring him to visit my preschoolers. Best if luck to you and your beardie.

Hi ! We just got our beardie in August so he's still new to us as we seem to learn something new everyday with him ! His name is lizzy and he is so handsome ! When I first got him I learned everything about him from this site so THANK U TO EVERYONE who posts great info on here ! So I finally decided to join and show off our handsome boy to everyone

I teach high school science. We currently have a rosy boa in our classroom, and the kids love and hate it, Lol. They are excited about the beardie, but he's still with me at home, as I am waiting for the weather to get warmer and to get more experience with him before I move him to school.

My biggest suggestion is to get a locking habitat. I think it's important for the safety of the reptile, so you know that no one is opening the door and harassing the little guy. In the case of the snake, my students are glad for the lock, as they are pretty sure she wants to get out and eat them!
