Hello everyone.
I became aware of bearded dragons on Friday night during a workshop with a camera club I am a member of. The workshop was on macros (close, close up shots) and the president of the club brought in a dragon from a local pet shop.
The beardie was about 18" long and probably 2 yrs old. I ended up holding the bearded quite a bit Friday night and found out when the club president was going to take him back.
I live with my mother and after some convincing, she agreed to a pet for the house.
So Saturday around noon I head to the pet shop and start taking a look around. The shop is for exotic pets and mostly reptiles. It was clean, but of course smelled like the pets. I look around and mostly watch the beardies and eventually commandeer a guy in the shop and get a rough education on the pets. I wanted to make sure I was comfortable with the prospect of a beardie. Honestly, when looking at the other beardies in the tanks I was nervous and thinking what was I getting myself into. After waiting for about 30 minutes or so for the beardie of Friday night to be dropped off I was starting chicken to out, but then of course, the beardie comes through the door, er, well the club pres with the beardie in a box. The owner of the pet shop took the beardie out of the box and saw me and immediately hand him to me.
And I remembered why I was hooked the previous night. I will fully admit it the was the one beardie that captured my heart. He was very, very peaceful and excellent little poser.
So I decide to follow through and put a deposit on my beardie. I have to wait until my next payday to get everything else on him. But I made sure I get the beardie that was perfect to me.
His name was Barney, and honestly couldn't stand it. So, I'm renaming him Saxon.
(Of course, now that I'm thinking about it more, I might be able to get him today!)
Sorry for the images being so big, I tried to resize with them html, but it's not working here. I'll reduce the original file in a little bit. I need to go pick up my dragon first. I can't wait!
