New vivarium help

Hi, I have just up sized Frankie's viv he was in a 3ft X 18inch X 18inch now he is in a 4ft X 2ft X 2ft the bulb I had was ceramic 100watt for night time and 100 day bulb. I'm having to leave both on at the moment to get right temps. What watt day bulb do I need to hear her viv I was thinking 150watt but don't want to get the wrong one. Many thanks

It varies depending on the bulb really. If you have space to raise the bulb I suggest putting it on an adjustable lamp stand so you can easily raise/lower it to get the right temps. You could also try a lamp dimmer to fine tune the output of the bulb.

What do you have for UVB? You'll probably want a higher power UVB if it's going to be at a greater distance from the basking area. This is a great option http://www.lightyourreptiles.com/22-t-5-ho-fixture-high-output-with-arcadia-d3-12-ho-bulb/. It should sit about 12'' above the basking area for optimal output.

I have a 30 watt uvb 36inchs long and 10inch from the floor. I have dimmer stats on both bulbs I think I will just up the wattage of the basking day bulb. My temps are great at the moment I just didn't want both bulbs on during the day.

OK. A T8 will work but the optimal output is between about 6-8'' (closer to 6'' if you're going through a screen) so I'd build up a branch or similar to allow access in that range.
